With winter weather going strong here in Michigan, I've been daydreaming a lot about spring break vacations. Packing up our suitcases and jumping on an airplane to enjoy warm weather, sunshine, and sand sounds marvelous. While I enjoy spending a lot of time on the beach when we travel I also like to go on excursions, do some sightseeing, learn about the history of the area, as well as participate in memorable activities. That's why I'm excited to share this list of fun things to do in ... continue reading...
Delicious Pineapple Bread Recipe
With all this wintery weather we've been having I'm already in the mood for spring. While the cold and snow still has me using the slow cooker for hearty and warm meals, I've also been in the mood for something light, airy, and fun. One of my favorite treats is good bread. There's just nothing like it for me and often I'll eat a slice or two of delicious bread instead of dessert and sometimes will even enjoy it as my breakfast or lunch. I thought about making a banana or zucchini bread but ... continue reading...
Mitsubishi Outlander Review
This winter has been rough on our cars. We have a sedan that just doesn't like to drive in any kind of snow. In fact it just had a flat tire that we had to get replaced and now the brake pads and possibly calipers need to be replaced. We also have an older SUV that is puttering along but has been needing a number of repairs as well. So needless to say we are still in the market for a new vehicle. I had written in the past that we were just about to buy a new car, but then we moved. So now ... continue reading...
Spring Styles – Bright Colors, Florals, & Fun
Since I started using Pinterest my interest in fashion has really grown. In fact, I recently started using the site Polyvore to create fashion sets/collages. You can even click a heart button for sets, collections, and individual pieces that you like. There's also a mobile app. Since I've been enjoying playing around with it so much, I though it would be fun to start a style series. Here's the first look at some of my favorite spring styles. I had a great time picking out each of these items ... continue reading...
An Innovative New Learn To Read App by WriteReader
This post is sponsored by WriteReader. There are many stories about adults not being able to read, which is crazy, but something I was just equally as shocked to learn was that in the U.S. 21% of all adults read below the 4th grade level. This problem needs to be corrected, and a huge part of it is how children are introduced to reading & writing in school. A common theme now-a-days is that every child learns differently and that parents and teachers need to be adaptable in their ... continue reading...
Stuffed Cabbage Casserole
Before I met Dave I had never heard of halupki or stuffed cabbage rolls. To be honest, the first time I tried them I was a bit nervous but after my first couple of bites I was hooked and when served with mashed potatoes I was over the moon! To make halupki or stuffed cabbage rolls you have to cut out the core then carefully take the leaves off of a head of cabbage individually without breaking them. Next you pare away the center vein of each leaf, which can be tough because you don't want to ... continue reading...
DreamWorks HOME
Quite a while ago Dave and I took Kora & Logan to the movies. Prior to the film we were seeing we got the chance to see a short titled Almost Home. In it The Boov were looking for a new planet to inhabit and it had us laughing like crazy. Since then the kids have been asking, "When is the movie with those cute purple guys coming out?" That's why I'm excited to work with DreamWorks on this sponsored post and to learn more about the movie. Now I can say the movie is called, ... continue reading...
AdoramaPix Photo Book Review
This fall Randy and I decided to gather up our travel gear and take a three week road trip through Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas. We are drawn towards nature. Our first stop was Lake Odessa in Iowa, where we saw our first Golden Eagle. Next was the Crane Trust Nature Center in Grandville, Nebraska, where we hoped to see Sandhill Cranes, but had no luck. AdoramaPix Photo Book received. Denver was our next stop. While parked by the side of the road taking ... continue reading...
