Nintendo Holiday Gift Guide

You may remember that Kora & Logan were selected to be members of the Nintendo Kids Reviewer Program. They have received the items below for review and are huge little gamers and are so excited about this! Over the years they’ve played on a variety of different Nintendo devices and have played all kinds of family friendly games. They are thrilled to take the time today to share with you their picks for their Nintendo Holiday Gift Guide!

Nintendo Holiday Gift Guide

Kora: I’m excited to talk you guys about Nintendo. We’ve been playing Nintendo games our whole lives and love it! There’s a lot of great ways to play and video games that would make great gift ideas.

Logan: Hi everyone! I am excited to share our holiday gift guide picks with you! I like Nintendo because I’ve been playing Nintendo for a long time and think they make a lot of great games that kids will like.

Now on to their picks:

Nintendo Wii U

Nintendo Wii U

Logan: The Nintendo Wii U is neat because it has a stylus and a touchscreen touchpad and you can do lots of stuff with the Wii U because you can make lots of Miis and other cool stuff. It’s different from the Wii because it’s not just two regular remotes. With the touchpad you can touch the screen so you can do something different then the other person and help them or compete against them. I also like that there is a TV button so you can change channels and use the touchpad to watch TV. I also think it’s neat that you can buy Wii U remotes or you can use your old Wii remotes.

Kora: The Wii U makes a great gift because it’s like the Wii but it has a touchpad. It’s a whole other screen so two people don’t have to look at the screen. The pad is it’s only separate screen and one person can surprise or help another in different games by doing things on the touchpad. It’s really neat and the stylus makes it fun to use too.

Super Mario Bros. U for Wii U

Nintendo Super Mario Bros U

Kora: I like Super Mario Bros. U on the Wii U because it’s a great family game and if you have four people in your family you can all play together. It’s not just one person hogging the tv. They added some new power ups – now if you collect an acorn you become a squirrel and fly all over the place, if you collect a pink Yoshi you float around in a giant Yoshi bubble and when you can collect the blue Yoshi you can burp bubbles!

Logan: I think Super Mario Bros. U is cool because there are fun levels and using the touchpad one person can help everyone by putting in blocks to help their teammates. You can also click on the coins with the touchpad and you can even stun bad guys by tapping them on the touchpad!

Nintendo Land

Nintendo Wii U NintendoLand

Logan: Nintendo Land is fun because it has all kinds of different games. There are lots of games to play. If you don’t know what game to play you can hop on a train and you hit A and it will take you to a world where you can try each game for a limited time – you select the time. Each player gets to pick a game. My favorite games in NintendoLand are Mario Chase and Luigi’s Ghost Mansion because I like Mario and Luigi. The object in Luigi’s Ghost Mansion is to run away from another player who is the ghost who is invisible but the player who is the ghost is using the touchpad so they can see you! It’s really fun!

Kora: Nintendo Land is several fun mini games like Mario Chase and Luigi’s Haunted Mansion and more. It’s really great that there are several games instead of just one. I like Mario Chase because they put the Mario characters in a whole different perspective. Mario runs around and hides and the Toads and Luigi have to run around and find Mario.

Splatoon for Wii U

Nintedo Splatoon

Logan: I like Splatoon because you can turn into a squid and you can only go on your splats of paint color so it’s challenging. I think other kids will like it because it is competitive and you can run into these boxes and then you would get a power up and it makes the game even more fun.

Kora: Splatoon is fun because you can turn in to a squid and squiggle all over the place shooting ink. Also you don’t just walk around. You try to get as many points by shooting as many balloons as possible. I like that you can go 1 v 1, so you can verse your brother or your sister so you aren’t just playing all alone.

Skylanders SuperChargers for Wii U

Nintendo Skylanders Super Chargers

Kora: Skylanders SuperChargers is fun because even though they give you assignments you can start your own race between your friends, your brother, or your sister. I also love that you can change your cars in all kinds of different ways – you could have a fire car with a water bottom or a hover car with a high tech top. I also love that they added two Mario characters – you can Bowser or Donkey Kong! I love those characters from Super Mario Bros. so I think it’s awesome that they added those in!

Logan: If kids like Skylanders they will love Skylanders SuperChargers. Kaos is back and the SuperChargers work together to save Skyland. I like that the vehicles are cool because you can go in the air, water, and ground and you can change them up.

New Nintendo 3DS XL

Nintendo 3DS XL

Kora: The New Nintendo 3DS XL is so neat because it’s portable and you can take it on an airplane or anywhere with you. I also like that you can make any kind of Mii’s you want and can make them pretty funny looking or just like you. I also love that the game comes out in 3D, you’re playing it and then the game comes out right at you! It makes you feel like you are right in the action!

Logan: I like the New Nintendo 3DS XL because it has lots of neat features. You can use it when you travel or at home or in the car. I like that it is 3D and there is also a stylus which is fun to use.

Super Mario 3D Land for the New Nintendo 3DS XL

Nintendo Super Mario 3D

Logan: I like Super Mario 3D Land because it’s in 3D and you have to collect big coins to unlock a mystery world in each land. You can run left and right and all around, it’s not just 2D – it’s 3D!

Kora: Super Mario 3D Land is fun because it has different levels than the regular Super Mario Bros. games that I’ve played. They make it very challenging. Your goal is to get Princess Peach back. I also like that you can swim underwater and you have to try to swim to the nearest pipe to go back up on to ground to reach your flag at the very end to complete your level.

Mario & Yoshi

Nintendo Mario & Yoshi

Kora: The Mario and Yoshi dolls are great because if you’ve ever played Super Mario Bros. you can make obstacles like that around your house and you can say, “Let’s A Play!” and have them do the obstacles around your house. Also you could have Mario riding Yoshi and Yoshi could be under pretend water and you can really do anything you want! Also they are very good to cuddle with at night!

Nintendo Mario & YoshiLogan: I like the Mario and Yoshi stuffed animals because you can play around with them and make your own little world. And if you have the others like Yellow Toad and Luigi it can be really fun because you can get your friends to play too.

Nintendo Mario Yoshi Stuffed AnimalsIf you have a Nintendo fan in your life, these are Kora & Logan’s recommendations for gifts they would enjoy this holiday season. As a family, we love how family friendly, lighthearted, and fun these games are and how amazing and creative the Wii U and New Nintendo 3DS XL are. They have a number of fantastic features aside from simply playing games that make them worth every penny. If you have a Nintendo enthusiast in your life, any item from this gift guide is sure to make them smile.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
