One of our favorite trips over the past few years for Dave and I was to Gulf County, Florida. Yep, we visited an entire county! It’s funny to say that but the county is very rural and only has 3 stoplights. When we were planning the trip we researched the beautiful beaches, learned that we could go on a baby sea turtle patrol, and also scheduled a sunset dolphin cruise. It sounded like the perfect trip and we hadn’t even started packing!

Then it hit me – the entire county has 3 stoplights. If it’s that far off the beaten path, how bad was the WiFi? I inquired and found out that things looked bleak. Gulf County is definitely a place to go if you want to unplug. There aren’t many options for staying connected.

After worrying about it for ages, the owners of the vacation home we were staying in assured me they had installed a WiFi extender so the signal should be strong. Thankfully it was and all my worry was for nothing (you’d think I’d learn one of these days!!) We were able to enjoy a fantastic trip and I was able to get work done when I needed to.

Here’s a peek at some of the beautiful shells we found on the beach during the trip.

Gulf County Sea ShellsSince going on that trip I have been itching to return and I can’t wait to take the kids. A few years ago we took them to Seabrook Island in South Carolina where the beaches were also beautiful and they had an amazing time. I know they would enjoy Gulf County and hope to get them there soon. When we go however I’ll be sure to be prepared in advance.

In fact, I’ve already been doing some reading up on how to make family travel easier and more fun and have enjoyed and learned a lot from the Best Buy Family Travel Tech Ideas page.

Since some of our favorite trips have been to counties with only 3 stoplights, the tips for Middle-Of-Nowhere Movies are fantastic!

Best Buy Family Travel Middle Of NowhereI can’t even imagine how excited the kids would be if we were able to set up our very own outdoor streaming theater on the beach or in the woods while camping! It looks easy to set up too. I’m adding this idea to our list of must do’s on our next family vacation.

Not only that but the rest of the ideas on the Best Buy Family Travel Tech Ideas page are creative as well and include tips for:

  • Always Connected
  • Family 5K
  • Road Trip Boost
  • Scavenger Hunt
  • Ultimate VOD

Be sure to hop over to the page, read the tips, get prepared, and have fun planning your next family vacation!

I never heard of streaming theatre before that is soo cool!!! I never heard of Gulf County, FL, either, but I’m amazed there is anywhere in FL that is that rural! I’ve only been at the edges on the coast where there are many tourists.

(How To Make Family Travel Easier & More Fun) We did not get to travel that much this summer. One two day camping trip with my son’s and grandson. It was a lot of fun for us all.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
