Our family loves the beach, so any family vacation we do has to involve the beach in some way! We also seem to enjoy traveling in a group! We have vacationed in groups of 7, 8,9 and 20+. Depending who is available we just like to plan a good time and have a great time!
There are a ton of apps available to help you plan your travels (we love all of these!).
When we travel as a larger group, we prefer to get a house, we have done hotels – and they are nice. We have done condos – and those are nicer. We have done a house whenever it is possible, there are some huge houses available out there to rent as a family. It is awesome, you get a full kitchen, multiple living areas, normally some sort of patio or deck and if you plan right, even a pool!
Most recently, this summer, we returned to Seabrook Island in South Carolina. We were there 4 years ago as a family, and this time we are returning with an even larger group. Our house in a very short walk to the beach and has enough room for 11 to sleep, plus a huge deck, screened in porch and a view of the golf course. Overall, we are paying less than we would pay to stay in 5 different hotel rooms for a week. This gives going with a house such a HUGE value, we love having a kitchen and getting our own food to cook and eat, we save money and have better rooming options.
In Seabrook, we had a blast! We spent days on the beach doing nothing but relaxing. Also, we had a chance to see some amazing wildlife, there are deer running through the neighborhood, little crabs, big crabs, starfish, sand dollars baby sea turtles and much more.
We didn’t sit on the beach all vacation, members of our group also went fishing, checked out the crab docks, took surfing lessons, did horseback riding, hopped on a paddleboard and more. Seabrook is able to keep you as busy as you want to be, or as relaxed as you want to be. It is a private community, so the beach is not crowded at all. There were only a couple of other groups scattered around the beach, so it feels like you have it all to yourself. The best part was having a huge home to come back to. We had family over in the evenings and enjoyed every space our house had to offer.
This was such a wonderful trip, here are some of our favorite moments and images, On your next vacation, look into renting a house, I bet you’ll love the extra space & prices!

I love renting houses also. It makes a huge difference in the quality of stay, esp when compared to a hotel.
