The Perfect Family Caribbean Vacation – The Island Of Nevis

I believe relaxing by the ocean makes a perfect vacation. Even with an active family, there is still something glorious about relaxing on the beach and simply unplugging.  Nevis Ocean

I just experienced a trip to a beautiful little island, which is the perfect spot for a family Caribbean vacation. Nevis is the island I am talking about, it is a short 15 minute boat ride from St. Kitts and is home of some of the most majestic views you will ever come across.

Getting to Nevis was pretty easy, fly into St Kitts and after a taxi and a water taxi, you are on the island of Nevis. Time flies on the taxi rides because you can’t help but be in awe of all the beauty that surrounds you.

Once we got onto the island it was off to our hotel, I had a split stay between the Hamilton Beach Villas and Spa and the Four Seasons Resort, both were beautiful and perfect for a family or couple. I will share more later in a post about where families can stay on Nevis.

Where To Stay?

Speaking of places for families to stay, we were able to visit some beautiful resorts with such a great variety of how they are set up. Nevis offers a wonderful combination of old and new, historical and modern, mixed in with oceans and mountainside views. Each resort we visited offers its own unique experience. Here are the wonderful resorts we had the pleasure of experiencing – I will be sharing more about the resorts soon!

  • Four Seasons ResortNevis Four Seasons
  • Mount Nevis Hotel
  • Nisbet Plantation & Beach Club
  • Hermitage Plantation
  • Montpelier Plantation
  • Hamilton Beach Villas & SpaNevis Hamilton Estates

Like I mentioned, all of these resorts are special and beautiful in their own way, I loved them all!

In between visiting all the resorts, we ate like kings on this trip. There are so many wonderful meals to experience in Nevis. Restaurants with mountainside views and beach views only make the meal that much better! I will also have a special post for where to eat on this tiny, but amazing island, there are tons of incredible options!

Once you get all the relaxing you want out of the way in Nevis, there is an incredible history to this island. Alexander Hamilton, one of our Founding Fathers was born and worked in Nevis at a young age. Many know his story now thanks to the Broadway Show “Hamilton,” but it was amazing to experience some of the sites up close. We were able to visit his birthplace, the Hamilton Museum, and areas where he most likely ran around as a boy.Nevis History

We also were able to visit old salt mills across the island along with older churches and the ruins of Jewish Synagogues. The history here is something you can get lost in. It is truly incredible to see these things up close and then realize how far we have come over the last couple of hundred years.

Nevis offers a family experience like none other in the Caribbean. You can enjoy the beaches, but you can also learn so much about history. Your children (and you) will love being able to unplug and visit everywhere on the island. Depending on where you stay, you have the option to stay away from all the commercialism you will see on other islands in the Caribbean. Nevis is very laid back and a hidden gem that you and the family will love.Nevis Sunsets

A friend of mine bought a large chunk of land on Nevis years ago. He has since passed, but his wife stayed and made it her home. What a great trip you must have had. Thanks for sharing!

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
