So we’ve had Yoshi for nearly a month now. I can’t believe how time has flown and how quickly she has grown. Here’s picture from the day we picked her up at the shelter.
Look at how tiny she is and all those wrinkles! She’s part bloodhound for sure and we think part German Shepherd.
Here’s a recent picture.
She’s so much bigger! She still has a lot of wrinkles in her forehead and on her face but I can never capture them on camera quite right. I’ll keep trying, because it’s pretty cute.
If you don’t recall from the first post, we decided to call her Yoshi because it is the name of the cute little dragon in Super Mario Bros. and it also means “good luck” in Japanese.
We took her for a second vet appointment so they could better estimated her age and if she was old enough give her a rabies shot. The vet looked at her teeth and said that she was only ten weeks old. We really weren’t too surprised. The shelter had told us she was 8 weeks old when we got her. When we first took her to the vet she said if she started loosing baby teeth by her next appointment she’d be closer to 12 weeks when we got her. But she had no wiggly teeth so – 11 weeks she is as I write this post.
She’s a great dog. She absolutely loves people especially kids. I take her up to school with me to pick up Kora & Logan and her favorite thing to do is get her belly rubbed by all the kids.
She loves other dogs too. So much so that for about a day we actually talked about getting another puppy. We decided it’s best to wait though so we could be sure to have one well trained dog before we got another.
We’ve been impressed to see how quickly she learns new things too. She can sit, lay down, shake, and high-five. We are still working on getting her to walk on a leash properly and learning how to stay, but I think she’ll get it soon. She loves to play frisbee too, she doesn’t quite get it yet and thinks it’s fun to run away instead of give the frisbee back about half the time which is kind of funny.
Kora and Logan love her and so do Dave and I. She’s been a wonderful addition to the family and she is always making us laugh with her wrinkly bloodhound face and crazy puppy antics. We are happy to have her and as you can tell are having fun taking lots pictures of her!
She is so stinking cute! How could you not fall in love with that face. I am so glad she has fit into tour family with ease. We love seeing pictures of her also.
It’s great that you gave her a nice home!
She has grown fast! How cute!
He’s so cute!
How adorable :) the toilet paper photo reminded me of home and our puppy. lol
What an adorable little puppy. You are going to have many more wonderful fun years with her
Aaw! She is soo cute! Oh my how fast they grow!
She has grown quite a bit in the time you have had her! Hurray for rescues!
What a beautiful member to have in your family and he has grown. I am hoping you dress in him for halloween with the kids…you should get him a green Dinosaur costume, have your daughter wear a pink princess dress and your son be Mario with overalls and red shirt
she is so adorable.
She is adorable!!! She looks like such a sweet, sweet puppy. My kids are begging for another dog, but after losing our dog and one cat to cancer just a few months apart (last year) I’ve been very hesitant, I miss having a dog but it was so hard on me when they both got so sick. I did have to give in to another cat because our remaining cat (she already has anxiety and OCD issues, vet said she wouldn’t make a good human lol) became so depressed she stopped eating, started pulling her fur out… she didn’t like being an only pet.
She is so adorable! Good for you guys saving her from a shelter, too. So happy for your beautiful family :)
