Learn To Cook Like A Top Chef With The Top Chef University To Go App

Cooking shows are popular these days and one of my absolute favorites is Top Chef. I also love Top Chef Masters. I never miss an episode of either. Even though I have nowhere near the culinary skills of the contestants, I like to imagine what it would be like to compete on either show.

Top Chef University App Review

This post is sponsored by Top Chef University To Go App.

They always come up with the most creative recipes! I’ve been spending more time on my recipes lately and have been trying to really learn how to cook. That’s why I was excited to be given the chance to work with the new Top Chef University To Go App on this sponsored post to share with you why this app is so wonderful for those who want to learn to cook like a Top Chef contestant.

This free app is available for the iPhone and it’s full of cook and learn videos from the top 11 chef’testants at Top Chef University. You will recognize many faces from Top Chef including:

  • Carla
  • Spike
  • Stephanie
  • Cj
  • Marcel
  • Dale
  • Blais
  • …and more.

I was so excited to see these chef’testants in these videos teaching over 200 lessons organized into 20 course. If you love Top Chef than I’m sure you’ll love this app too. It’s packed full of information and cooking tips with over 60 hours of videos and is a fun way to learn new culinary skills.

I was happy to see that there are plenty of videos that teach Basics & Techniques. I’ve always wanted to learn more about how to properly use my pots and pans, how to best set up my pantry and fridge, how to properly utilize spices and specialty vegetables, and to learn what exactly Mise en Place in and how it can help me become a better cook.

Top Chef University AppIn fact here’s a video from the app that you can check out to get a good feel for it. It’s Carla teaching Basic Knife Skills:

The categories in the app are numerous and inclue:

  • Basics & Techniques
  • Stocks & Soups
  • Sauces & Salads
  • Cooking Technique I: Saute, Boil, & Steam
  • Cooking Technique II: Grill & Roast
  • Cooking Technique III: Braise, Fry, and Confit
  • All About Vegetables
  • Eggs & Dairy
  • Poultry
  • Pork
  • Beef, Lamb, and Offal
  • Fish
  • Seafood
  • Breads & Grains
  • Just Desserts
  • ….and many more

Top Chef AppAs you can see there are lessons for every aspect of cooking and even some recipe creation videos as well.  There’s a nice selection of videos teaching how to sauté as well as other ways to cook meat.

Top Chef App Lessons

There’s even a great selection of advanced lessons including Global Cuisine, entertaining tips, and even some molecular gastronomy lessons.

Top Chef Advanced AppWhile all of the videos in the app are informative, insightful, and very helpful, my favorite are the desserts.

Top Chef App DessertsThose are just a few of them. Don’t they sound and look amazing?

I love how much info is in the Top Chef University To Go App and that I can pull it up on my iPhone while I’m in the kitchen and practice right along with it. This is going to be lots of fun to continue to use and I can’t wait to see how much my cooking improves!
