Road Trips With Yoshi

I’m serving my dog The Nutro™ Company as part of a sponsored series with Socialstars.

Do you have a dog that loves to travel? Yoshi has been going on road trips with us since we brought her home from the pet shelter at 8 weeks old.

Yoshi SleepingThankfully she’s always been a great car rider. She’s a bit like a baby, as soon as she hops in the car she falls asleep. When she was little she could sit on the seat between the kids but as she’s grown she now regularly rides laying on the floor.

She either curls up in a ball on the floor under Kora & Logan’s feet or stretches out a bit and snoozes that way.

Yoshi Sleeping In Car

If Dave or I are driving solo, she’ll ride in the passenger seat – looking regal as usual.

Yoshi In CarWe are a family of travelers so we are thrilled that she loves to road trip too. We taken her on lengthy drives to visit family in Ohio and she is wonderful. She sleeps nearly the whole time.

I know all dogs are different but here are some of my tried and true tips for road tripping with your dog:

  • Start Early – If you are getting a puppy or have one, be sure to take it on lots of car rides to get it used to driving around. Start with short drives and move up from there.
  • Pack Familiar Blankets or Toys – Bring something familiar to help relax your pup on a long ride. Yoshi enjoys laying on one of her blankets whenever we bring it along.
  • Stop & Walk – Stop at rest areas, put your dog on a leash, and walk around a bit. This will stretch your dog’s legs as well as yours and be a good time for a bathroom break for everyone.
  • Pack Their Favorite Food & Dog Dishes – When you stop to walk around it’s important to pull out the dog dishes and pour some of their favorite food and water. You can send a passenger into the rest stop to pick up a bottle of water and while they are inside you can feed your pup. Dogs also enjoy eating their favorite foods while on vacation, it gives them that sense of familiarity which is important when traveling.

Yoshi’s favorite food is NUTRO™ ROTATIONS™, so she’s always happy when we bring it along with us.

Yoshi Nutro Rotation ReviewI was interested to learn that it’s dog food that allows you to add variety to your dog’s diet with digestive stability. I was amazed to read that with this dog food you can switch from one recipe to another without slow introduction, just pour and serve.

Yoshi Nutro RotationsI was pleased to see that real meat, poultry, and fish are always the first ingredient. The food is made with whole grains and the finest fruits and vegetables and it’s never made with corn, wheat, chicken by-product meal or soy protein. It’s also made with non-GMO ingredients.

Yoshi loves it and gets excited about all three varieties:

  • Lamb & Potato
  • Salmon & Barley Rice
  • Chicken & Brown Rice

Nutro RotationsWe love all that NUTRO™ ROTATIONS™ has to offer. It’s a great dog food to take with you on when traveling because it offers digestive stability even when you switch between the varieties. It’s by and far Yoshi’s favorite food and she gets so excited about it, that we can pack a small bag of it for shorter road trips and offer it to her as treats along the way.

Love him! He has sure grown into a beautiful dog.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
