Anyone who has moved to a new city can be a little homesick. In addition to missing the people and the places you have grown accustomed to, you also miss your TV and your old local channels. This could include missing your local news stations and anchors, or it could mean not being able to see your favorite sports teams on TV because you are out of market.
Slingbox M2 received.
We moved from Cleveland to the suburbs of Detroit, and with that move, it means that I no longer get to see all of my Browns, Cavs & Indians games on TV. This was a little rough and that’s why I was excited about the Slingbox M2.
We recently had an opportunity to check out the Slingbox M2 system. It is a great way to get access to view your hometown sports teams. For me, I have set the M2 up in my mom’s house, and this way I can watch my Brown’s, Cav’s and Indian’s games at home, on my computer or even on my phone. Technically, I can watch any programming, but I use it mainly for my sports teams.
Another great use for Slingbox is if you travel a lot. Isn’t it always strange when you are in a hotel away from home and you turn on the TV and miss your local programming? The channels are different, the news stations aren’t as good, it just doesn’t feel right. Slingbox allows you to see your local programming while you are on the road. This could be a state away, or on the other side of the world, your TV signal is sent to you, wherever you log in.
I know this sounds super high tech, and it is pretty impressive, but the installation of the Slingbox is as simple as anything out there. It is as close to plug and play as you can get. All you do is connect the wires, which consist of your power cord, audio and video cables and an optional Ethernet cable if you don’t want to go Wi-Fi.
Once you connect the cables, power up your unit and you simply log in (or create and account) to Slingbox and follow the simple setup instructions. Setting up takes well under 10 minutes, and from there you can start viewing your home TV from anywhere with internet access.
There is an app for your iPhone or Android device which allows you to watch on your phone, this same app is used to help you connect your stream to your TV. You can watch your Slingbox on your TV with the help of a ROKU, and there are additional streaming devices that Slingbox is working on connecting with. You can also watch your Slingbox stream on a desktop, laptop, tablet or just about anything that has a screen and connects to the internet.
Slingbox allows you to feel at home, even if you aren’t. I use it for my sports teams, there are tons of other uses, how would you use your Slingbox?
