A Fun & Affordable Premium Family SUV

We have test driven a number of different vehicles here on 2 Wired 2 Tired. Having driven so many cars, trucks, and SUV’s has given us a lot of expertise about which vehicles are good fits for families.
Mazda CX-9 Affordable Family SUV

Vehicle provided for one week test drive.

I have had a chance to get an up close and personal view of how Mazda does things. I walked away pretty darn impressed. They know they are an “underdog” brand, however they continue to come up with fun and impressive cars. I can’t help but feel good after every time I get a chance to drive one, and my most recent experience with their premium family SUV continues that feeling.

The Mazda CX-9 keeps that trend alive, but really amplifies their efforts to make a vehicle that is not only fun but also a premium vehicle. The CX-9 is a 3 Row Crossover SUV that looks the part of a premium vehicle.

3 RowsMazda CX-9 Affordable Family SUV

Mazda is known for making a practical car, and that thought process carries over to the Mazda CX-9. The 3rd Row is a fair size, perfect for kids, but not overly spacious at first. However, the middle row has an option to adjust, so if there are adults in back, you can give them more space.Mazda CX-9 Affordable Family SUV

The Mazda CX-9 is a tad smaller than some of its competition, however you get a lot more value than the competition. The CX-9, with its 3rd row, is a value. For you parents, driving the CX-9, 3rd row and all still is a fun and exciting drive.

Why is the CX-9 Fun?

Mazda as a brand has a focus on making the driver’s experience a fun one. Mazda also always presents a value to their customers too. The CX-9 comes with a very fair price tag, and also an engine and handling that gives you a great sense of speed, stability and control while driving.Mazda CX-9 Affordable Family SUV

In addition to the first class driving feel, the CX-9 is loaded with signature trim which really gives the CX-9 a high end appearance. It absolutely has thrown itself into premium 3 row SUV market.

As a bonus to the fun drive, you also get excellent mileage. With a blended rate of 24 mpg – 22 city and 27 highway, you get a lot more bang for your buck when it comes to your gas station trips in this family SUV!Mazda CX-9 Affordable Family SUV

Ultimately, the Mazda CX-9 is as comfortable zipping down a curvy highway road as it is waiting in the carpool line to pick up the kids. As a Dad, I would definitely love driving this family SUV – with and without the kids!

I loved your review and am currently in the market for a new vehicle after last weekends flooding. This was most helpful. Thanks so much!

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
