Part Monster Truck, Part Family-Mobile – Toyota Tundra Review

We had the chance to test drive the Toyota Tundra for a week and it was a memorable week! Toyota Tundra Review

Monster . . . Wow . . . Huge . . . Awesome . . . these are the first words that each member of our family said when we first saw the Toyota Tundra in our driveway.

We recently had an opportunity to drive a Toyota Tundra Crew Max TRD Pro and wow, this is a (no offense ladies) a man’s truck! The Tundra that was sitting in our driveway was a blazing burnt orange which Toyota call Inferno, and it is a powerful looking truck.Toyota Tundra Review

The TRD Pro is made to be an off road beast with amazing towing power, while these 2 features may make you think of a truck that is a “little rough around the edges” that is not the case with the Tundra in any way shape or form. I was very impressed with how the interior was laid out. It is a classy looking car and has an amazing amount of space in the front seat. The back seat of the Crew Max is probably the largest and most spacious back seat I have ever seen. Tall adults could fit easily back there with plenty of head room and leg room. As an added bonus the back seat flips up to give you even more room, I don’t know what you could possibly do with all the room in this truck, but it is spacious.Toyota Tundra Review

As a family, I could easily see us driving the Toyota Tundra as our primary car, or secondary car, the Tundra is fun, spacious and safe, perfect combinations for the family. These are the reasons I think the Toyota Tundra Crew Max is more than just a man’s truck (even tho it is great at this), but perfect for the family as well.Toyota Tundra Review

Safety – Tundra comes standard with the Star Safety System – a grouping of 6 advanced safety features like Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-Lock Brake, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist and Smart Stop Technology.

8 Airbags – The Tundra is loaded with airbags to keep everyone safe. It is also the only truck with driver and passenger knee airbags.

Spacious – Like I said, the back seat is huge. Kora and Logan loved the room in back, and I couldn’t believe how small they looked back there. There is room in the back for the 2 kids and a dog, easily, with plenty of leg room left over.Toyota Tundra Review

Storage – Families always have to move stuff, the Tundra has 3 available bed lengths, 5.5’ short bed, 6.5’ standard and a 8.1’ long bed. Also, for even more room the back seat flips up to fit any other bulky items you don’t want in the flatbed.Toyota Tundra Review

LATCH – Keep your little ones safe and secure. Tundra offers LATCH – Lower Anchors, & Tethers for Children. With supports on the sides and in the middle, you can feel safe having your little ones in the Tundra.

We loved our time with the Tundra Crew Max TRD Pro, it was awesome. I actually took it on a 3 hour trip across Michigan and it is a dream to drive on the highway. Obviously with a big powerful truck your gas mileage is going to be low, but with up to a 38 gallon tank available, you can go quite a way. The only thing I would change is I would add something to assist getting into the truck. It was comical watching Kora and Logan climb in, and I kinda had to do a hop/jump kinda thing to get in. No problem now, but for some passengers, a foot rail may be helpful.Toyota Tundra Review

This Truck not only looks awesome, but it was great to drive. The Tundra should be a major player in their category and competes well with the other trucks in its class. Give it a shot, the Tundra is engineered in Michigan and built in Texas, so it has its roots here in the States, so keep that in mind when you are in the market for a new truck.Toyota Tundra Review

sigh… my husband is officially drooling. He wants one for Christmas after seeing your review… now I need to play the lottery more! lol It is a gorgeous truck though, and definitely has lots of room for a family or work crew.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
