Lionel Train Polar Express Review

As an Amazon Associate/Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases.

Now that fall is here I’ve started thinking about the upcoming holidays. One of my favorite things to do with the kids this time of year is watch holiday themed movies and shows and start working on wishlists.

Lionel Train Polar Express

Lionel Train’s Polar Express received. This post contains affiliate links. I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

Growing up I always wanted a train that went around underneath our Christmas tree. That’s why I am excited about the Lionel Train’s Polar Express. Kora & Logan love the movie Polar Express and we watch it every year. When they saw this train set they were very excited!

Lionel Train Polar Express ReviewLionel Trains are so well made and so classic looking that we couldn’t wait to open it and get it running.

Lionel Train Polar Express SetWhen we took the train set out of the box we were excited to see a number of fantastic surprises. The first that we saw was Santa’s bell. It’s such a significant part of the movie that it was a wonderful to see it included with the set.

Lionel Train Polar Express Santas BellThere is also little figurines of the conductor and the little boy. They look just like the characters in the movie and you can take the little boy off and movie him around if you like.

Polar ExpressWe were also excited to see an appearance by the hobo who rides on top of the train. He flips up and down with the push of a finger.

Lionel Train Polar Express HoboAnother great surprise was that batteries were included. You never see that anymore and I was so happy not to have to delay putting the train together due to not having batteries. The kids love the remote and that it can be used to make the train go forward and back as well as control the bells, whistles, and other sounds.

Lionel Train Polar Express RemotePutting the train tracks together was just a tiny bit tricky for me at first. For train set veterans like Logan it was a breeze. He was snapping the tracks together in no time and in just a matter of minutes we had the tracks assembled.

Polar Express TrainNext up was connecting the engine and the cars. This was simple enough for Kora who simply slipped the couplers into place.

Polar Express Train ReviewLogan and Kora were excited to see that the train operates by remote control. We all loved the authentic train sounds including bell and whistle. We also thought it was a wonderful touch that you can here the train conductor from the Polar Express movie yell, “All aboard for the Polar Express!” The kids love the working headlight and that the train can go both forward and in reverse. You can hear the sounds, see the light, and watch the train run in this video:

The track itself is huge. It makes a 55″ x 72″ oval. You can also make a big circle or two smaller circles as well.

Lionel Train Polar Express Set ReviewThis Lionel Train Polar Express G Gauge set is beautifully crafted, high-quality, and something we look forward to enjoying for many years to come.

Polar Express Train Reviews

We recommend it to anyone who is a fan of trains and/or The Polar Express. It’s sure to add a lovely touch to any holiday decor and bring out an element of fun as well.

The Polar express is still very popular and a great starter train set for children. Children both boys and girls love the sight of a train going through signals and tunnels and having some buttons to control some of the action. More than that it gears them up for later years when hobbies are even more important to lifestyle.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
