Is Your Home Network Limited? Try An Arris Gateway or Modem

Arris Network Enhancers received.

Ahhh . . . Springtime, the snow melts, the rain brings fresh smelling flowers and suddenly everyone gets the urge to start cleaning up the clutter. Did you know that clutter can build up and make your phone, tablet or laptop download slower? We recently had the opportunity to receive for review a couple of new network enhancers from Arris, and we wanted to share how a new modem or a gateway can help improve your current WiFi connection at home.

Did you know that your home networking experience is only as good as your weakest component? If you go out and get a shiny new phone or tablet, wouldn’t you want it to work as well as it can? Most people, and we were this way too, get that shiny new toy (ie. iPhone, iPad, new laptop etc.) and connect to our home network and don’t even realize you are limiting and restraining your shiny new toy from working as well as it can. It’s kinda like getting a brand new Corvette and putting your old engine from your Impala in it. Sure, it looks good, but you are not running at your optimal speed.

We were able to review 2 products from Arris, both the SURFboard SBG6782-AC Gateway and the SURFboard SB6141 Cable Modem and both are able to give your home network a great jumpstart towards working as well as it can.

Both SURFboard components are a modem, but the SBG6782-AC is an all in one combining a modem with ridiculous wired and wireless speeds, while the SB6141 Cable Modem provides DOCSIS 3.0 and allows fast streaming for all. One item that a lot of people forget about is that you most likely are renting your current modem from your internet provider for a couple bucks per month, that adds up quickly and you will be able to have these products pay for themselves and eventually save money by owning one of these products.

The SURFboard SBG6782-AC Gateway

This Arris Gateway is the top of the line all in one device which will clean up all your home network clutter, and give you new levels of connectivity. The SBG6782-AC offers the fastest available wired and wireless internet speeds. Setup is a breeze and you will be up and running at top speed in no time.

Here are some of the highlights of the SBG6782-AC Gateway

-Plug and Play installation

-WiFi pairing button for easy WiFi Protected Setup

-Mobile Apps available for assistance

-DOCSIS 3.0

-Channel bonding of up to 8 downstream and 4 upstream channels

Capable of data rates of over 340 Mbps down and 100 Mbps up

-3 levels of security and advanced firewall with DoS protection

-4 ethernet ports

-MoCA Networking for Smart Devices

This is all geek-talk for “wow, this gateway is super fast and will improve your total home WiFi experience!”

SURFboard SB6141 Cable Modem

This is an ideal modem for everyone from the high end residential customer, to the medium to large business enterprise. It has the newest technology, but will easily be compatible with your other networking equipment since it is backwards compatible with older systems.

-DOCSIS 3.0 Certified

-Compatible with Windows, Mac and UNIX computers.

-Download up to 8 times faster than DOCSIS 2.0

-Data at over 300 Mbps down and 100 Mbps up

-4 ethernet ports

This is geek talk for “this modem will take your downloading to new levels, you will see a difference!”

Motorola SB6141 Front

The Arris Gateway and Modem are available from Arris and your home network will benefit from them. If you haven’t updated your modem and/router for a couple of years, you are missing out. Your new devices have the capability, but your old network could be slowing you down. This impacts your streaming, that’s your movies, your music, your gaming . . . everything! Don’t forget to check out Arris on Twitter @arriseverywhere to keep up to date with new products and other techie tips!

Don’t forget, you and your family of electronics will keep growing and getting more and more powerful, make sure your network can keep up! The more devices you have, the more you need a smart and powerful modem and wireless router to keep your optimal performance.

How old is your router?

We need a new modem. i bought one a few months ago and it did not work great at all, made everything slower; i needed to make some configuration changes but just didn’t want to go through the hassle so it went back to the store.

I think I don’t have a router. I have a modem box from my cable company. I don’t use the internet for anything other than my computer.

This looks like a really great modem. We have an old one and I have always wondered if we should replace it. Think I will!

We just replaced our modem and you are so right. Our speed has really improved! It is one of those things that you don’t think to replace unless it quits working.

We just replaced our router two weeks ago. I wish I had seen this, we would have given it a try. So far, our speeds are really fast, but will keep this one noted for the next time :)

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog originally got its name because my husband, Dave, and I had two kids born a year apart. Back then, we always joked that “the kids were too wired and we were too tired.”

Fast forward to today—those two kids are navigating college life (how did that happen so fast?!), and our house is a little quieter. But the story didn't stop there. Now that I'm a 50+ mom and an empty nester-in-training, the definition of 2 Wired 2 Tired has evolved.

Today I'm wired for new adventures, Disney magic, smart technology, and unforgettable travel experiences and I’m completely tired of bad gadgets, boring trips!

Whether you're a midlife mom looking for the ultimate 50+ Disney World guide, planning a relaxing Michigan Lake Life getaway, organizing a college dorm packing list, or just looking for a killer recipe to enjoy with a great book, you're in the right place.

The chaotic toddler years might be behind us, but the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here. Let's tackle this next exciting chapter together!
