Cascade App Game Review for iPhone and iPad

This post is sponsored by Big Fish Games.

Are you getting tired of the same ol’ same ol’ mind numbing ‘fun’ of crushing candy or simply matching 3 straight gems over and over again? That’s why I’m excited about new gaming app from Big Fish – Cascade.

At first the Cascade app has a familiar appearance to the well-known match 3 in a row games, but after further review you see that it is much different. Some of the games that we are used to now offer pretty much the same thing over and over again, Cascade offers a different style of gameplay. The gameplay for Cascade combines luck and skill with a unique slots mechanic-style feel. This type of play combined with the many different hand crafted boards allows for hours of entertainment where you actually have to think and use some strategy as opposed to some of the other popular games out there.

Cascade Front Page

The primary difference in Cascade is the slot mechanic style of play. Your gems that you get to put in play are at the bottom of the board and you get to select which location in the column you wish to place the gem. You may only place it if it will create a match of at least 3 gems connecting, which means that you actually have to thing and use some strategy as you play it. As you advance you unlock extra boosts, wild gems and bursts to make your game even more entertaining and interesting.

Cascade Levels

If you are worried about conquering a game like this too quickly, have no fear. Cascade implements a social aspect which allows you to compete amongst friends and try for the high score in the daily challenge. Plus, Cascade currently has 10 boards with over 140 levels to conquer! If you are skilled enough to get through them all, have no worries, Cascade will be coming out with new puzzles and challenges being added every month to allow you to continue your Cascade fun!

The main thing that I enjoyed about Cascade as I played it is the strategy element. There is no real race against the clock, instead you have a limited number of turns to clear the board, so as you advance, the need to slow down, review the board and think becomes necessary. In my opinion this is a much better way to kill some down time – you still get the quick and easy fun, but you also have to think while you are playing!

Download Cascade at the iTunes App Store, it’s free and will offer you a different type of matching game, and you may actually think while you are doing it!

What are you favorite games for your iPhone?

I love games like this, especially in long car rides and it comes in handy at doctor offices. Great game for all ages really.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
