A Tired Dad’s Sleep Genius App Review

I love sleep! Whether it’s sleeping in late, taking a nap, or passing out on the couch watching a football game. What is often unappreciated, is the importance of getting a good night’s sleep.

There are too many times I am tossing and turning while trying to fall asleep at night, or when I wake in the middle of the night, sometimes I have a difficult time getting back to sleep. This leads to rough mornings and work days that seem to last 20 hours as opposed the regular 8-9 hours.

Because of some of my tired days, I was very excited to learn about the Sleep Genius: Natural Health App.

Sleep Genius is considered to be the world’s most advanced sleep app, using scientific studies to create an app that is much improved over the popular ‘noise maker’ apps that are acting as sleep apps.

There are 4 main components to the Sleep Genius app – I am including a simplified description because after all, this app was initially created to help NASA astronauts fall asleep, so beware – some big words ahead!

Sleep Genius About Screen
Neurosensory Algorithms – no other sleep app has anything comparable to this. This function helps you get to sleep faster and naturally using sound to activate a motion induced feeling, like a baby rocking, or riding in a car or train.

Multi-Band Binaural Beats – these beats help train your brain to stay asleep and sleep better.

Pink Noise – unlike the popular ‘white noise’ pink noise is softer and more soothing than white noise. This will filter out the background noise without being disruptive.

Psychoacoustic Music – music that is composed specifically with low tempo and frequency. This helps slow your brain waves and heart rate to help you relax and ultimately sleep better.

All of these come from years of studies to combined to form the perfect sleep app.

My favorite feature of this app is the alarm (although I have to try the Power Nap, and napping is always good!). The alarm is set to wake you up gradually with a gentle 5 minute Revive Cycle. When it starts, the sound is different and slowly changes to activate and wake up your brain. This is MUCH better than the alarm sound I normally wake up to.

Sleep Genius Power Nap

You have to give this app a try, it took me a couple of tries to get used to it, but I am now falling asleep faster and waking up ‘not as grumpy’ which is a major improvement!

How would your mornings improve if you had a better night’s sleep?

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
