What Is A Twitter Party?

Twitter has been around for so long that even my mother knows what it is. Granted, she doesn’t have a Twitter account, but if she did, I bet she would want to know the answer to “what is a Twitter party” and she would be all over Twitter Parties!

I love Twitter, check us out at @2Wired2Tired. I also wanted to share some info for those who may still be in the dark about what all the fun that you can have with a Twitter Party.

What is a Twitter Party?

I guess if you were looking for a formal definition it would read something like this.

Twitter Party [twit-er pahr-tee]

Noun

A social media event on Twitter which is sponsored by a specific brand with a goal of meeting & gaining new and existing customers, sharing brand information and knowledge with the participants, and often consisting of questions and prizes to get the audience of brand followers engaged and involved. A Twitter Party has a set time, hashtag, and influencers with established audiences running or assisting the online engagement.

I know this sounds like a lot, but it is really quite fun and simple, especially if you are participating. Twitter Parties are a great way to speed through an hour of your life in an effort to learn and become educated about something that a brand is sharing. They often include interesting facts and tidbits about the subject matter. Also, it is very common for there to be an “incentive” or 2 for participating in the party.

So how do you participate and win?

Generally there will be questions that you answer and give your opinion or suggestions about. When you tweet your answers you want to make sure you include the hashtag for the party and also mention the party host you are following in your tweet. Some parties, this is all you have to do to be eligible to have a chance to win one of the prizes. Some parties require a quick and simple registering or RSVP’ing to the party beforehand. Everything is made nice and simple so all you have to worry about is answering questions, spreading the word and having fun.

When are they?

Twitter Parties are everywhere – you can often find a good one that is trending on Twitter, there are many online Twitter Party calendars that you can check out as well for dates, times and prizes.  Twitter parties are great to hop in and learn some great tips for how certain products can help you in your daily life.
