Homestead Preserve Allegheny Mountain ViewAs I’ve shared with you all before, Natural Retreats’ destinations center around getting visitors outside (see my post about Tybee Island, GA here), and there are plenty of family-friendly things to do around the Homestead Preserve that I know you’ll love.
Homestead Preserve RiverWith summer approaching, it’s the perfect time to take a guided hike, paddle the river in a kayak, or cast for trout in the river! If you’re feeling adventurous, you can rent mountain bikes for the day and take an excursion to Douthat State Park, or horseback ride over 200 miles of land against the Allegheny Mountains.
Homestead Preserve Allegheny Mountain ViewFor the avid golfer in your family,  Homestead has two incredible courses that have hosted the PGA tour. While dad and grandpa hit the course, mom and the girls can hop over the Warm Springs Dairy Community Center which has a full fitness center, hot tubs, a sauna, and on-site massages by appointment. The large heated indoor pool and fully-equipped game room are sure to be a crowd pleaser.
Homestead Preserve - Old Dairy Community Center & SpaIf you’re bringing little ones with you, there’s no need to worry about packing the high chair and safety gates. The on-site staff will set up everything for you ahead ahead of time, so you can unpack and head outside to enjoy the great outdoors.

Those homes are gorgeous. My Grandparents lived in Virginia and so did we for a number of years when I was small. I loved the state and loved the history. There is a different pace there and it has all of the Southern xharm one could want.

I haven’t spent much time in Virginia but I think I’d like to change that after seeing this post!

Wow, what beautiful pictures. I would love to visit there.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
