Scrabble Alphabet Scoop Review

Kora & Logan love playing family games. Kora’s always asking, “Mommy, do you think we could play a nice family game of cards  (or insert other game here) tonight?” .

That’s why we are excited about a fun new game for kids. Scrabble Alphabet Scoop is a really cute game that is fast paced and helps children with reading and spelling.

Now that we’ve played it quite a bit, it’s one of my favorite games to play with the kids

The object of the game is to put all the letter tiles into the soup bowl. Then everyone grabs a scoop and selects a card.

Scarbble ScoopThe cards all have 5 words on them and before play starts everyone goes around the circle announcing which word they are going to try to find tiles for. This is great because the words vary in length and difficulty.

Scrabble Alphabet Scoop GameThis enables kids who are just learning to read and spell to pick the top few words and parents can pick the longer words. We thought this was great because it really allowed our family to play together.

After everyone announces their word, one person grabs the lid of the soup bowl and says, “Ready, Set, Scoop!” Everyone dips their scoops in and tries to gather up letter tiles to spell the word they announced earlier. There are blank tiles which act as wild letters. There are also orange tiles with flies on them (“There’s a fly in my soup!” Get it?) and if you scoop up a fly you have to return all of your tiles to the soup bowl and start over.

Scrabble For KidsOnce someone has found all of their letters they put the lid back on the bowl and say, “Yummy!” Everyone grabs new cards and picks a new word. Play continues until someone wins four rounds.

Here’s a video of Kora & Logan playing a round:

We have had a great time this holiday break playing this game and I’m happy to say that not only do I love how fun it is, but that it is compact and all the pieces and cards fit right in the bowl for easy storage.

Scrabble Alphabet Scoop ReviewWe recommend Scrabble Alphabet Scoop to anyone with children in their lives. It’s a fun and lively game, that is educational and is sure to provides lots of laughter and smiles along the way.

I really like this idea. We have Scrabble but, honestly, it gets a little boring. This version allows you to have a little more speed and action. Sounds a lot more fun!

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
