Must Have Road Trip Books & Unplugged Entertainment

We love to travel and have been on many memorable family road trips. From Cleveland we drove to Charleston for an extended family reunion, we’ve also driven from Cleveland to Orlando, and recently Dave and I just drove from NYC to Detroit (that one was due to a cancelled flight and was more out of necessity but it definitely qualifies as memorable!).
Must Have Road Trip Books & Entertainment

Books & game received.

When planning a road trip, I enjoy researching the trip to make sure we have the best time possible along the way. That’s why I was excited to receive the items below for review and to share my affiliate links . They are packed full of information and fun and I’m happy to recommend them as must have road trip books and unplugged entertainment.

Road Trip USA

Road Trip USAIf you are planning a road trip in the U.S. and want to head off the beaten path and discover hidden gems, this book is for you. Road Trip USA offers a number of fantastic road trip routes and is packed full of information, history, recommendations, photos, maps, and more. You can use this book to start out on one of the road trips and use it to guide you along the way. Each route is brilliantly detailed with suggestions of where to eat as well as what to stop and see along the way. It includes mile-by-mile highlights featuring major cities, obscure towns, popular attractions, roadside curiosities, and oddball trivia. I love that you can’t turn a page in this book without learning something! It’s a fascinating look at the U.S. with tips on how to see as much as possible on your next vacation. I’ve enjoyed this book so much it’s made me want to plan a long road trip today!

Florida Road Trip

Florida Road TripOne of our favorite places to visit is Florida. We’ve been there so often we call it our home away from home. At the same time when we have vacationed there in the past, we get there and basically stay in one location. We did road trip “to” it once but I’ve always thought it would be fun to road trip through the state and I dream that one day we will get down to the Keys. That’s why I couldn’t wait to read Florida Road Trip. The book starts off with a number of engrossing road trip guides and then dives into destination details. The book does a wonderful job of making it easy to find area highlights as well as the best accommodations, restaurants, beaches, shopping, events, and more. In fact it dedicates sections to multiple accommodation choices based on price so you can easily figure out where you want to stay. I recommend this book to anyone who has dreamed of planning a Florida road trip. It’s full of ideas, details, tips, maps, and photos that will inspire you to hit the road and to make long lasting memories.

The Beach Book

The Beach BookThis book isn’t a guide for a specific place but it’s full of wonderful ideas for you and your family to enjoy once your road trip gets you to the lake, river, or ocean. The Beach Book is jam-packed with activities kids will love. The sections are broken up into: Adventures, Wildlife, Games, Art, Imagination, Night, and Rubbish. Some of my favorite ideas include a variety of creative games to play at a beach with or without a ball, diy and crafts you can make from things you find at the beach, and rock pooling (one of my favorite memories from a trip to the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington – you wouldn’t believe how many tiny little animals live in tidepools that you don’t see at first, amazing!). I love that the book is full of fantastic photography that kids will love and that it will inspire families to be creative the next time they are at the beach.

50 Road Trip Games

50 Road Trip GamesWhen you are out on the road, it’s good to have something to keep you (and the kids!) entertained during those moments when all you see are fields. Deckopedia’s 50 Road Trip Games have come to the rescue. This small, compact box of cards can easily fit in your purse, pocket, bag, cup holder, glove compartment, or any other nook or cranny of your packed car. The cards are ready to be pulled out and provide entertainment at a moment’s notice. There are four categories: Classics, Brain Games, Pop Culture, and Just For Fun. Each card features a game and explains the rules. I am impressed with the wide variety of games and love that almost all of them are thinking games so no other materials are needed. They are many that will be sure to get you laughing along the way as well which will help make the time fly by.

These books and cards will make road trip planning fun and exciting. They are sure to help make your next vacation fun, exciting, and will help you make memories to enjoy for years to come.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog originally got its name because my husband, Dave, and I had two kids born a year apart. Back then, we always joked that “the kids were too wired and we were too tired.”

Fast forward to today—those two kids are navigating college life (how did that happen so fast?!), and our house is a little quieter. But the story didn't stop there. Now that I'm a 50+ mom and an empty nester-in-training, the definition of 2 Wired 2 Tired has evolved.

Today I'm wired for new adventures, Disney magic, smart technology, and unforgettable travel experiences and I’m completely tired of bad gadgets, boring trips!

Whether you're a midlife mom looking for the ultimate 50+ Disney World guide, planning a relaxing Michigan Lake Life getaway, organizing a college dorm packing list, or just looking for a killer recipe to enjoy with a great book, you're in the right place.

The chaotic toddler years might be behind us, but the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here. Let's tackle this next exciting chapter together!
