Our home is filled with kids, and kids stuff everywhere! With warmer weather coming, it can be a nice break and fun to take the laptop or iPad outside and sit in the sun, feel the breeze and get some fresh air.

Netgear AC1200 WiFi Range Extender received.

Since we are a Netgear Ambassador, I want to tell you about a new product we just received to share our honest opinions about, the Netgear AC1200 WiFi Range Extender. This Range Extender makes sitting outside, in the basement, or just about any corner of the house a much more enjoyable experience thanks to its ability to provide an amazing signal seemingly everywhere

When I first checked out the AC1200 WiFi Range Extender, I was a little shocked, it was a lot larger than I imagined. Other extenders I have seen plug directly into the wall outlet and sit against the wall, the AC1200 is larger, about the size of your average router or modem. Because of its size, the AC1200 simply laughs at walls and extended distances. The size of the AC1200 allows it to include dual processors which kick out a 1200mbps for your 802.11 signal. This is one of the first 802.11 range extenders and we are impressed.

In addition to the powerful signal, the AC1200 also includes 5 ethernet ports and a 3.0 USB port which allows you to wirelessly share and access storage connected to the unit. You can use the additional ports to connect TVs, Blu-ray players, video game consoles with a hard line, or you can always connect wirelessly.

Netgear WiFi Range Extender Back Inputs

We are thrilled with how the AC1200 works with our Netgear Nighthawk wireless router, combined these two make a lethal team in eliminating WiFi dead spots throughout the house and backyard. Connecting the AC1200 to our existing network was a breeze. You have the ability to connect via WPS or simply use your existing network ID and login info. I tried both, and both were simple, the only minor hurdle was that our Nighthawk router doesn’t have a WPS button and you need to login to the admin panel on the computer to activate the WPS setup.

Now, thanks to this extender I look forward to many hours in the sun on the laptop in the backyard. My wireless signal will be fast and powerful and I can get some work done in the sun. Where can the Netgear AC1200 WiFi Range Extender bring the internet to you in your home?

My router works well in my one-story home, but some hotels could surely use these things. I can never seem to get a room with more than one bar.

We could use one of these. We like to go out on the deck during the summer and relax while using a laptop. We have looked at the ones that plug in the wall and I don’t think it would give us much extra range as we need. We will have to check this out. Thanks!

I need to get one of these because I have dead zones and can not connect to the Internet. I need a Wifi range extender like this one. It would be awesome to get the Internet in other parts of my house.

Thanks for sharing this. We have been having problems with our wireless router and this is an option we could explore.

Very cool! This would be great for me since I have problems with my laptop on the patio!

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
