iRobot Scooba 450 Floor Mopping Robot Review

As an Amazon Associate/Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases.

This time of year is filled with gift giving. With Mother’s Day just past, Graduation Parties filling our calendars, and Father’s Day around the corner everyone is looking for creative, unique, and useful gift ideas.

iRobot Scooba 450

iRobot Scooba 450 Floor Mopping Robot received.

One thing everyone loves to do is save time on chores. They need to be done but every minute saved can be used to spend that precious time doing things you actually enjoy. One of my most time consuming chores is mopping. That’s why I was excited about the iRobot Scooba 450 Floor Mopping Robot.

The Scooba 450 Floor Mopping Robot will automatically sweep, wash, scrub, and squeegee away dirt, grime, and bacteria. In fact it neutralizes 98% of common household bacteria. It was also recently redesigned to clean three time better than before.

iRobot Scooba Stand

As an additional accessory this drying stand is compact and convenient.

I was impressed to hear this and I was also interested to learn that iRobot was recently named one of Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies. With this knowledge I couldn’t wait to put the Scooba 450 Floor Mopping Robot to work.

With a 7-year-old, an 8-year-old, a 9 month old (very large) puppy, and a husband that likes to garden our floors pay their dues. I’ve always done what I can to keep them clean but never felt it was enough and admit that the amount I mopped didn’t happen often enough.

iRobot Scooba Floor Mopping RobotThat’s why I was thrilled to discover how easy the Scooba 450 Floor Mopping Robot is to use and what a great job it does in keeping our floors clean.

Scooba Mopping RobotJust fill the Scooba with the iRobot Hard Floor Cleaner and water and press the “Clean” button. You can also fill it with water only.

Scooba Hard Floor CleanerIt starts with sweeping up dirt which I think is brilliant. It was designed so you don’t need to sweep before using it.

Then it pre-soaks the floor with iRobot Hard Floor Cleaner to soak into anything that might be stuck on. You can see this step in this video:

Next the Scooba 450 makes another pass to scrub and squeegee. The powerful scrubbing brush rotates at 600 rpm to remove dirt and grime. At the same time the squeegee sucks up the dirty water. It ends with another squeegee cycle to leave only a clean floor.

Scooba Spinning Power Brush Squeegee

You can see the follow up video to the one above here where it’s about half-way through it’s cycle:

One of the other great features is that the Scooba never puts dirty water back down on your floors – unlike a mop.

The Scooba fits everyone’s needs in that it offers two different cleaning options:

  • A full 40 minute cleaning cycle – which cleans 300 square feet. This cycle cleans my dining room, kitchen, hallway, and part of one bedroom
  • A smaller 20 minute cleaning cycle – which cleans 150 square feet. This cycle cleans my dining room well.

It does a great job of cleaning every area of the floor and it makes multiple passes to make sure it washes every section of your floor. I’m happy to say it never seems to miss a spot. This is due to the iAdapt Responsive Navigation Technology.

Scooba Floor Mopping Robot ReviewIt is wonderful at getting around furniture and hugging close to walls using Wall Following technology. It also uses the iAdapt technology to avoid area rugs, carpets, stairs, and other dropoffs.

Scooba iAdapt TechnologyI like that it has a LED Status Ring that lights up to tell you how far along it is in the cycle.

iRobot ScoobaThe robot works on a variety of floors including:

  • Tile
  • Linoleum
  • Sealed Hardwood
  • Vinyl
  • Marble
  • Stone
  • Slate

It also comes with a virtual wall which uses an infrared beam that you can place anywhere you don’t want it to go.

The Scooba 450 Floor Mopping Robot has been a real time saver for us and I recommend it to anyone looking to give a creative, hard-working, and thoughtful gift for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or for Graduation. With it’s many features and ability to clean so you don’t have to it’s a must have for every busy household or office.

What an incredible invention! My mother will be seventy years old in a few months and it’s getting harder for her to do household chores daily due to bad knees and arthritis. A gadget that will sweep, pre-soak, and clean her floors so she doesn’t have too would be perfect for her. Thanks for the introduction :)

They really need some kind of a test program for these. Its something I’d love to try out but I haven’t been able to justify buying at the price point… I think if they had a try before you buy and it really does an amazing job I may reconsider! ;)

I had an iRobot vacuum for a while and loved it. I can see how the Scooba would be great for washing the floors, but it hadn’t occurred to me that I need one. Now, though, after reading your review, I think I’ve changed my mind!
