Giving Back With The Boys & Girls Clubs Of America

As an Amazon Associate/Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases.

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Boys and Girls Clubs of America. I received a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.

In the past I’ve written about the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the wonderful opportunities they offer children, and their site which is full of resources for parents. The BGCA has always held special meaning to me because one of my friends from college took a job with a local club after she graduated. She always seems inspired about what is going on at her club and enjoys sharing information about their fun promotions and other events and activities taking place.

BGCAThat’s why when I was given the opportunity to give $2,500 to one of four charitable organizations I selected the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. They are doing a lot to help children on a local and national level and they are also reaching out to parents online by offering helpful resources, tips, and tools. I was thrilled about this opportunity and couldn’t have been happier to be able to give back in such an amazing way to a wonderful organization.

I’m excited to share that the BGCA Give The Gift Of A Great Future Holiday Campaign is now up and running. It’s a great campaign because it offers an easy way to give back to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America as a thank you for all they do.

Give The Gift Of A Great FutureAs part of the Gift Of A Great Future campaign you can play the Giving Game. Click the link above and then select “Play Now.” It will take you to the Giving Game site where you will see a cute heart dangling from string. Simply click the “Start” on the heart. The heart drops into one of three gift boxes and then you keep your eye on the box with the heart in it as they are shuffled around.

When I played I guessed correctly and clicked the box with the heart. I was happy to see that because I followed the heart and clicked the right gift box a Club kid will now get an art kit. It was so easy that I recommend hoping over there today and playing.

On the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Facebook Page there is a photo contest going on right now where you can vote for one club to receive $2,500 grant from BGCA. It’s easy to vote and only takes a minute so be sure to head on over there this holiday season as well.

I was also pleased to see that BGCA has created a list of tips for parents to help teach their children the importance of giving back. Some of my favorite tips from the list include:

  • Read books about giving – Kora & Logan love reading and I enjoy finding books about giving back and hope they become some of their favorites
  • Be enthusiastic –  I always try to point out examples of giving back and let the kids know how excited I am that someone took the time to give back
  • Tell family stories about philanthropy – We share stories with Kora & Logan about times we have given back and they are always very interested in hearing them, I’m hoping they see them as good examples.

This holiday season is the perfect time to get the whole family involved in giving back and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America have made it possible to do so in a fun way while providing a learning experience for children as well. Set a good example for the children in your life by taking a minute to play the Giving Game, vote in the BGCA photo contest, and incorporate some of the giving back tips into your family life.

We didn’t have B&G Clubs in our area when I was growing up – just Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Wish we’d had the other, though as they seem so much more wholistic and heartfelt. They deserve as much support as they can get!

Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to volunteer for the B&GC, but whenever I win passes or tikets to appropriate local events, I donate them to my local B&GC.

I agree about getting excited when somebody does something, but I think the very best thing is to lead by example. If your children see you doing selfless things or good deeds they will see that as a proper way to behave. You made a great choice with this one, it’s important to tell your children why you pick a particular organization too

I love love love The Girls and Boys Clubs bc from the ages of about 10-14 I hung out there frequently and had so much fun just hanging out doing activities and playing games and eating snacks and socializing, but also joined clubs they had (one even including fund raising for charity and a reward trip vacation for us! ) I was part of a haunted house they put on which was a blast and in my early teens crazy loved the community dances they held!

I always wished they had them nearer to where I raised our 5 kids so they could have enjoyed them like I did!

You made a good choice. There are so many good, worthy, important and urgent “causes” around and that sadly abound… sometimes it gets to be too much for even a big heart to hold…

But we should never let that sense of being overwhelmed – or the fact that the holidays are nearly over let us forget or become an excuse for not doing what we can whenever and however we can.

Helping kids, working and playing with kids is one of the most important and tangible ways we can make a difference. Too many of our children slip through the cracks – and fine, wonder-working organizations, like the Boys & Girls Clubs of American (with old-fashioned sounding names) tend to get overlooked in our high-tech/ fast-paced world – but I know of no finer, more reputable organization that reaches out to children and greatly enhances their chances for a good life – now and in the future than this fine organization. Check them out!

I love the Boys and Girls Clubs of America! They do so many wonderful things for kids. The only problem? They just don’t get enough credit for their amazing efforts. I don’t think many people consider the direction that many children might go without this organization.

I used to volunteer at one – I don’t live close to one anymore, but I think it is a great organization, and I am glad that they provide a safe place for children to be.

I am very fond of the Boys and Girls club, and giving back. That is a legacy my daughter left….she never passed a collection bucket she didn’t donate too – even if it meant me turning the car around :)

This is one great organization. My father was a mentor to a young boy. We still keep in touch with him. Our family always donates to them each year as our Christmas gift.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
