Why You Need A Waterproof Phone

Technology is so advanced now that our smartphones keep getting better and better.

Phone received.

Many of us have more of an active lifestyle and we have to make sure we get a great case to protect our device (which is also an investment). Well now we can throw away the case and be happy and feel safe with a phone in its own skin. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active.

When I say feel safe, I really mean feel safe. To call the S7 Active a durable phone is a major understatement, yes it has a shatter resistant screen and is drop proof, but it also is waterproof.

A Waterproof Phone

When I heard it was waterproof, I felt the need to have some fun and test it out. The S7 Active can survive at depths of 5’ or less for up to 30 minutes.  So we went to our lake to check it out.

I was a little slow to just drop the S7 Active into the water, so we played in the sand for a bit first!Waterproof Phone Samsung Galaxy S7 Active

When I went to drop the S7 Active into the water, I was a bit hesitant. I went to an area of the lake which is about 2 feet deep, I wanted to make sure I could still see and find it ok.

I said a little prayer and dropped it in.

Then I waited, waited some more, moved it closer to shore into about a foot of water and let it stay for about 15 minutes.Waterproof Phone Samsung Galaxy S7 Active

Waiting truly is the hardest part and I started to get a little bored, so I decided to try calling the phone and see if it would work underwater.

Sure enough, the phone started ringing underwater!

I thought that was pretty impressive, so I sent it a text and the text went through too.

As I gained a little confidence in the S7 Active, I got a little more daring. I decided to skip the phone like a stone, it worked pretty well, and fortunately I found it every time!

After we were done with our S7 water activities I decided to check out the device. The S7 Active looked great, screen and camera were perfect, email, internet and phone worked awesome, everything was all good.Waterproof Phone Samsung Galaxy S7 Active

There was one minor issue, which ended up just correcting itself. After spending some time buried in the sand, there were some sand grains that made the buttons a little tough to push. The sand was wedged between the buttons and the housing. After pushing the buttons about 20 times, they loosened up and the sand worked its way out and now the S7 is back to being perfect.

From a physical wear and tear point of view, the Galaxy S7 Active was very impressive and lived up to the hype.

Outside of the rugged and shatter-resistant screen, the most impressive aspect of the S7 Active is the battery. The 4,000Ah battery is the largest of any Galaxy S device. This battery provides up to 32 hours of talk time and can fully charge in under 2 hours.

AT&T and a Special BOGO Bonus

The S7 Active is exclusively on AT&T and there are some incredible deals going on at the moment. There are multiple options for buying the phone as part of your plan. When you add a S7 to your contract, for a limited time there is a buy one get one (BOGO) option with another Samsung device. The Gear S2 smartwatch and the Galaxy Tab E are both available with a new S7 Active purchase. How great of a deal is that? I love it!

The Galaxy S7 Active comes in a variety of stylish colors, so not only is it rugged but it gains some major style points too. Available in Gold, Grey and Camo, you have choices of what phone you would like to go swimming with.

What type of adventures would you take your waterproof smartphone on?

Wow i would’ve been terrified to drop my phone in the water hahaha But its impressive to see how far phones have come. I currently use my phone in one of those waterproof bags for our water activities and it works pretty well, but it is a bit cumbersome to use.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
