Friedrich AP260 Air Purifier Review

This winter has been a rough one for us. Between the freezing temps of -20 below and all the snow, we’ve also all been struggling with colds, congestion, the flu, and allergies.

I’ve been doing my best keeping the house clean and making sure we are all washing our hands properly and following all of the typical rules to stay healthy but it really hasn’t helped. That’s why I was excited about the Friedrich AP260 Air Purifer.

This air purifier is incredible. It has a 5 stage filtration process.

The filtration process includes:

Antibacterial Pre-Filter

This filter is washable and removes large particles of dust, human hair, pet hair, and pet dander.

Antibacterial/Antifungal Multi-filter

This filter filters out smaller particles of dust, pollen, mold spores, and allergens. It also prevents bacteria and fungi.

High Performance HEPA with Antibacterial Coating

This HEPA filter removes 99.97% of all particles greater than 0.03 microns from the air including: fine dust, pollen, mold, spores, pet dander, and tobacco smoke. The antibacterial coating prevents the growth of germs & mold.

Activated Carbon Filter

This filter absorbs gaseous pollutants including VOCs (volatile organic compounds), chemical vapors, and odors from pets, cooking, tobacco, etc.

Plasma Generator

This ionized plasma field sterilizes and disinfects harmful airborne substances such as viruses and bacteria.

As you can see in the video one of our favorite features is the Smart Detection and Intelligent Auto Operation System. The purifier has a sensor that will detect the quality of air in your home or office and will automatically adjust its cleaning levels accordingly.

There is also a nice color changing Air Quality Sensor LED Display that will show you the air quality level. Blue is very good, green is fair, and red is poor.

We also like that this air purifier has an intuitive night time mode where it dims the lights, operates at ultra-quiet settings, and it adjusts airflow for maximum comfort while sleeping.

My only negative to this purifier is a small one. It came with stickers on the front and the top to remind you to take the filters out of bags before powering on. This is a very important step in the set up and I can see how they wanted to grab your attention, however I had a hard time getting the stickers off and some of the glue was left behind in both places. I’m going to try some goo remover to see if it helps. I imagine it will but having to do so is a bit frustrating.

To end on a good note, I do want to point out a few other features we like. The remote, remote holder, and storage compartment for the power cord are all very handy, helpful, and convenient too. I haven’t seen an air purifier with any of these before and now I’m not sure how I got along without them.
