Kia Sorento SX Limited Review

Now that Kora & Logan are in elementary school we are finding ourselves on the road more and more. We drive them school, to swimming and diving, to friends’ birthday parties, to the library, and soon we’ll be driving them to both to soccer, Logan to football, and Kora to whatever other spring activity she chooses. All of that running around also includes trips back home.

When we do all this driving around town, we like to be comfortable. That’s why we were excited to be given the opportunity to test drive for a week, the 2014 Kia Sorento SX Limited.

Kia Sorento

Kia Sorento SnowWe had the Sorento for a week and it was the perfect amount of time to fall in love with it. It is rated by Kelly Blue Book as One of the 10 Best SUVs Under $25,000. This seven passenger crossover is a smooth ride with lots of room that actually made it fun to play taxi driver for the kids all week.

Here are some of our favorite features:

Heated Steering Wheel

Kia Sorento Steering WheelYou may think this is a funny feature to list first but let me tell you, it’s been freezing here in Cleveland this winter! We had more than one polar vortex and with freezing temps it was wonderful having the steering wheel warm my hands, even through my cloth gloves. I also like how easy it was to use the controls on the steering wheel as well. It was nice being able to control the radio, temperature, hands free calls, cruise control, and more.

Heated Front & Second Row Seats

KIa Sorento Dual Climate Control

Kia Sorento Front RowSince we are in the market for a new vehicle we’ve been test driving a number of different makes and models lately. While Dave and I have been enjoying the warmth of the heated front seats and dual climate control in many of them (including the Sorento), we’ve never had a vehicle that also had heated seats for the kids. What a brilliant idea! With the heated front and second row seats we can all ride comfortably, which is wonderful when you are in the car all the time.

Kia Sorento 2nd RowAs you can see the second row also is very spacious. This was a great feature because it gave the kids lots of room both between them. This room is important to us because it keeps the kids from being on top of each other and from Dave and I having to listen to “Mom, she’s touching me!” all day.  There is a nice amount of space between the second row and the first as well which is wonderful because the kids don’t kick the seats on purpose or on accident, which always makes for a much more pleasant drive.

Three Rows/7 Passenger

Kia Sorento 3 RowsHaving the 3rd row is perfect for parents on the go. If we had anywhere to go with any of Kora & Logan’s cousins we would be all set. Every couple of months my parents come down to visit from Michigan and this third row would allow us all to ride together rather than take two separate vehicles. This would maximize the time we have with them while they are visiting.

The 3rd and 2nd rows are also split folding so you can configure the seats however you need them. They can all lay flat, you can put three of the seats down and leave one up, you can put two seats down and leave two up, or you can just lay down one seat. So convenient!

Large Trunk Space

Kia Sorento TrunkThere’s lots of room in the Kia Sorento. This is great for big shopping trips or fun family road trips. There’s lots of space and the a cargo net to hold everything in it’s place too. The Power Liftgate is a great feature as well. You can hold in a button on the key fob for 2 seconds or so and the trunk liftgate will open or close. It’s handsfree and a big help when you are carrying lots of grocery bags or school projects.

Big GPS Display & UVO eServices

Kia Sorento GPSWe liked how big the GPS display is in the Sorento. It’s easy to see and use. The large monitor was great for the rear view camera as well. We could see what was behind us clearly and felt safer having it there. The UVO eServices makes it easy to manage music, make hands-free calls, and even use Google Maps for directions.

Blind Spot Detection

Kia Sorento Blind Spot Detection

This is one of my favorite features. Once you start using it you wonder how you managed without it. Whenever another vehicle enters your blindspot, the little car icon image will light up letting you know not to change lanes. While it’s still important to always check yourself, this is great reassurance and makes driving feel much safer.

Panoramic Sunroof

Kia Sorento SunroofWe love that the panoramic sunroof brought in the bright beautiful sunshine on our trips around town. This was especially appreciated during this cold Cleveland winter.

We recommend the 2014 Kia Sorento SX Limited to anyone looking for a new vehicle. It’s a smooth ride and a comfortable way to get around town. With all of it’s fantastic features there is something for everyone in the family, sure to make the daily errands and random road trips lots more fun.

I didn’t know there was such a thing as a heated steering wheel! You got to try this out at the perfect time.

Wow, this looks like another wonderful family car, one our large family would be so comfortable in! It offers so many features that I look for in a family vehicle, I think I may stop in at our local dealership and take a test drive in it! Thanks so much for such a detailed review with great pictures!

Is there good back support in the front seats? How is the comfort of the backseat, for an adult passenger?

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
