Family Gadgets Music Tech

An Affordable Bluetooth Speaker With 360 Degree Sound

I really enjoy having the ability to play pretty much any song I want to hear on my phone. This is great for all occasions, especially when we are outside as a family hanging out, either for a larger get together or a smaller more intimate gathering. Sometimes Tired Mom Tésa will try to steal my phone and play some of her songs, it’s only a matter of time until Kora and Logan start trying to take over DJ responsibilities too.

I was excited about the SOL REPUBLIC x Motorola DECK. With such a long name you would think the DECK would be quite large, but the first thing you notice is the size, it’s flat and rounded rectangular and can fit (barely) in your back pocket of your jeans, but easily in a backpack, purse or handbag.

The DECK has some really impressive points, I was amazed that you could be connected to it from a long distance, I was easily able to connect from the other side of the yard (about 100 feet away) and the specs say you can connect from up to 300 feet away, which is amazing.

The other unique function is Heist Mode, which kids of all ages (even me – an overgrown kid) will love. Heist Mode allows you to pair the DECK with up to 5 users at once, this allows you to take over control of the tunes, let’s say someone is playing a song that you don’t agree with, simply go to your connected device, pick a song and press play, and it will start playing on the DECK. Only one song will play at a time, but this is something that I could see everyone getting into and having a great time with.

The DECK is much more than just a fun device. This portable speaker is a powerful little device that really packs a punch. It does get pretty loud, and what is really neat is that you can change the playing mode from indoor to outdoor. Outdoor Mode makes the “highs” louder and the lows (bass) quieter, this is perfect so the sound will carry better outside amongst other noise.

Here are a couple of other specs about the SOL Republic x Motorola DECK;

  • Connecting Options – Use Bluetooth, plug in or tap and play with NFC capability.
  • Lightweight and small, but powerful – take it with you
  • Shape allows for 360 degree sound
  • Built in microphone allows use as a speakerphone – great for having multiple people on the call at once
  • Up to 10 hours of playback time
  • The DECK will change colors to match the user while in Heist Mode
  • Many fun colors to choose from – including Electro Blue, Lemon Lime and Gunmetal
  • Connect multiple DECKs to “Daisy-Chain” your tunes

The DECK is a fun device and works great and I recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable and great sounding Bluetooth speaker.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?
