You may remember that back in September we had an attempted break-in while I was home. It was a really odd situation and thankfully nothing was taken or damaged.

It did scare me though and ever since I’ve been researching the best of the best in home security options. That’s why I was excited about the Yale Real Living Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt.

This deadbolt is impressive and has many great features. Here are five of my favorites.

1. No Cylinder Means No Lockpicking

I was interested to learn that this touchscreen deadbolt provides an increase in security because the cylinder is the most vulnerable part of a lock and the Yale Real Living Touchscreen Deadbolt doesn’t have one. Having no cylinder gives the lock a clean appearance and it means that lock picking and bumping are nearly impossible. The robust construction also protects the lock from abuse and makes it resistant to tampering.

2. User Pin Code

With the network module you can program up to 250 user pin codes and 25 without. This is wonderful because if you can allow someone temporary access (a dog sitter etc) and then delete the pin code later.

3. Automatic Re-Locking

After you enter your code the lock and the deadbolt unlocks, it will automatically re-lock after 30 seconds. This re-locking time can be adjusted between 10-240 seconds.

4. Wrong Code Entry Limit

After a specified number of wrong pin codes being entered the unit will shut down and not allow operation. The amount is adjustable from one to ten times.

5. Tamper Alert

An audible alarm will sound if there is an attempt to remove the outside lock from the door.

  81. I locked myself out of our home, I had two locksmiths at our home trying every door. They could open none of them. I had to call my brother of whom lived a state away or break a window. This would be so fantastic! I would not have to worry about the children carrying keys or me loosing mine!

  110. Love several features include its tamper resistant (can’t try to remove it), the illuminated (so I can see at night,) and with kids coming home from school at different times my family doesn’t have to worry about keys.

  126. There are so many good safety features on this deadlock. The one I really like is that is has a light with it. You surely do not need to be feeling around in the dark to open your door.

  147. I like that it is almost impossible to tamper with or pick the lock. I was just talking with my husband last week about our front door lock and that fact that I think it’s not good enough. I am going to explore this one further – this may be a good fit for our needs.

  153. I love this concept, cutting edge technology is really helping my son. He has contact allergic reactions to metal, standard keys cause Excema break out. This touch screen would change his life .
