Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach

Flights, accommodations, and a gift card were provided.

We had a truly memorable and delicious trip. We went out to eat for every meal and are happy to say we genuinely enjoyed each and every one. Dave and I agreed that we would definitely go back to each place and are in fact, looking forward to doing so the next time we are in town. If you are wondering where to eat in Myrtle Beach, I put together a list of each place we dined to make your travel planning easier and more delicious!

Key West Grill

Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach Key West Grill

Key West Grill is located at Broadway at the Beach. The atmosphere of the restaurant immediately whisks you off on a tropical vacation. There’s even a beautiful parrot near the front door!

The menu is gigantic and has all kinds of delicious dishes to choose from including:

  • Key West Conch Chowder
  • Carribean Seafood Basket
  • Fried Plantains
  • Cuban Beef Pizza
  • Mojito Grilled Chicken Breast
  • …and much more.

Dave and I thought everything looked so good we decided to split two dishes. First up were the Beef Nachos.

Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach Key West Grill NachosThey were served with blue corn tortilla chips and on a long narrow platter which we hadn’t seen before. It was creative and a brilliant idea, especially since we were sharing. The nachos were delicious and we loved the homemade corn salsa.

Next up was the Cuban Rice Bowl with Fried Pork Chicharones and Yellow Rice with Black Beans.

Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach Key West Grill Cuban Rice BowlWhen we saw the Cuban Rice Bowls on the menu we were both immediately intrigued. Once the dish arrived and we had our first bites, we both agreed that we were thrilled to have ordered this. It was so out of the ordinary for us coming from Michigan that we were happy to have jumped out of our comfort zone because this dish was bursting with flavor. The pork was delicious, the rice and beans hearty and filling, and the pineapple mango salsa added a delicate and sweet touch of tropical flavor.

Liberty Tap Room

For dinner on our first night we decided to pick some place casual and close to our hotel the Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort & Spa at Grand Dunes.

Liberty Tap Room was down the street and Dave was thrilled that they were playing one of the playoff NFL games. Dave decided to go for the traditional wings and beer while watching the game and ordered hot wings with a side of celery and ranch dressing.

Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach - Liberty Tap Room WingsHe said they were some of the best wings he’d ever had! They were crispy and delicious. He said he was happy because even though he order hot, the sauce wasn’t overbearing and instead added to the flavor of the wings. He would definitely order them again.

The Strawberry Spinach Salad caught my eye especially because it has goat cheese on it. I love a good sprinkle of goat cheese on my salad and this salad was amazing! I subbed out the shrimp for chicken and the dish was so simple, but full of wonderful fresh flavor. And the sugared pecans on top were divine! Like eating dessert for dinner!

Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach - Liberty Tap Room Strawberry Spinach SaladWe both enjoyed our meals so much that the next time we are at Liberty Tap Room we know we’ll be faced with the dilemma of being excited to try something new or counting down the minutes until we can have these meals again!

Flapjacks

Driving around Myrtle Beach there are a ton of breakfast places to choose from. Dave loooooves pancakes so finding a good pancake house for breakfast was high on our list. Thankfully we didn’t have to go far. The sign for Flapjacks drew us right in with, “Best Breakfast on the Beach” and they were right! Our breakfasts were fantastic!

I had the Crispy Belgian Waffle with Strawberries and Whip Cream and it hit the spot.

Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach Flapjacks Belgian WaffleThe strawberries were fresh, the waffle was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, and I loved the touch of confectioners sugar sprinkled on top. If you enjoy waffles be sure to give this one a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Dave had the Flapjack Breakfast with a side of hashbrowns and when it arrived it all looked so good, he didn’t know where to start!

Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach Flapjacks He said it was all delicious and that the restaurant lived up to it’s sign as having the “Best Breakfast on the Beach.” I would have to agree because when we left our plates were spotless!

Carolina Roadhouse

We had driven by Carolina Roadhouse a number of times since it wasn’t far from our hotel and we were out and about a lot. It sounded delicious so we decided to give it a try for dinner. We were very happy we did. The service was wonderful, the menu was full of choices, and our food was delicious.

I kept it simple and ordered the Club Sandwich. It was a good size and full of flavorful ham, bacon, turkey, lettuce, and tomato.

Dave on the other hand stepped out of the box and went for the Killer Dog.

The menu describes it as “outrageous!” and then goes on to say, “it’s a foot long kosher hot dog grilled backyard style served on a fresh bun with deli mustard and covered with a giant mound of french fries and buried with homemade chili, cheese, and onions, bring an appetite…and a knife and fork.”

When it arrived we could hardly believe our eyes, it was gigantic! And it looked delicious too. Dave dug in and his first remark was, “Oh wow!” I asked him what was wrong. He said, “Nothing, this is the best hot dog I’ve ever eaten!”

While he did his best to finish the entire thing, he made it about 3/4ths of the way through. The waitress said that they will hold an eating contest every now and then to see who can finish it! It’s a big hit and there is only a very tiny amount of people who have eaten it all in the allotted time.

We both enjoyed our dinner and when we saw the dessert menu we were wishing we had just a bit more room. We agreed that we’d definitely go back for both of our dishes and even just for dessert sometime.

Simply Southern Smokehouse

Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach Simply Southern SmokehouseWhen planning the our trip and wondering where to eat in Myrtle Beach, I saw that Simply Southern Smokehouse was #2 on Yelp for restaurants. Dave and I love a good barbecue restaurant so I was immediately intrigued. As soon as I read the reviews, I told Dave about it and added it to the top of our itinerary.

Once we ate there we could see why it had such high reviews and now we can’t wait to go back the next time we are in Myrtle Beach! The restaurant is buffet style with a nice simple barbecue decor.

Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach Simply Southern SmokehouseEveryone is very friendly and the food is fabulous!

Simply Southern Smokehouse Buffett Myrtle Beach

When we went the price for an adult lunch was $8.37 plus tax, and adult dinner is $10.76 plus tax. You pay once and can go back to the buffet as many times as you’d like. The difference is at dinner they bring out the ribs and macaroni and cheese. We went at lunch and the food was fantastic! So much so that we wished we had room to come back for dinner!

Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach Simply Southern SmokehouseWhile I loved it all, I couldn’t decide which was better – the sweet potato soufflé (the best I’ve ever had!) or the peach crisp. Dave enjoyed being able to sample a number of different types of bbq sauce to mix up the perfect plate.

Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach Simply Southern Smokehouse BBQ SaucesThe buffet menu includes:

  • Fried Chicken
  • Barbecue Chicken
  • Chicken & Dumplings
  • Ribs
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Corn
  • Green Beans
  • Collards
  • Sweet Peas
  • Cornbread
  • Potato Salad
  • Mac & Cheese
  • Banana Pudding
  • Oreo Pudding
  • Ice Cream
  • …and more!

Keep in mind Simply Southern Smokehouse isn’t open on Sundays or Mondays and they close for a week or two at the end of January for Winter Cleaning. If you are in Myrtle Beach and love barbecue, put this restaurant at the top of your list, the food is phenomenal, the service is amazing, – it’s a restaurant you won’t want to miss!

River City Cafe

Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach River City Cafe

For our last meal of our trip with so many choices left, we wondered where to eat in Myrtle Beach and finally decided on dinner at River City Cafe. We had driven by this restaurant a number of times as well and it had such a fun, vacation-y feel to it that we were excited to stop in. The walls were covered in license plates and they evidently encourage customers to write all over everything because there were names on the walls, on the beams, and even on the ceiling fan blades! While we were there in January, we could see how this restaurant would be a big hangout for a younger crowd to enjoy a drink during the summer with lots of room to hang out on the porch and throughout the restaurant.

The menu is very unique and impressive. Their selection of burgers is unlike anything we had every seen before. Where To Eat In Myrtle Beach River City Cafe MenuWhile I kept it safe ordering the Grilled Ham & Cheese and Sweet Potato Fries.…

Dave ordered the Nacho Crunch Burger which was topped with guacamole, jalapeños, spicy chipotle mayo, and Doritos!

His burger was enormous and he loved every bite of it! The waiter had recommended the onion rings and Dave was glad he did, they were gigantic and delicious.

We both enjoyed the fun atmosphere of River City Cafe and would love to go back again and order other items on the menu like:

  • Homemade Texas Chili
  • Fried Green Bean Straws
  • California Pizza Burger
  • Texas BBQ Burger
  • Mahi Sandwich
  • Shrim Po’Boy
  • ….and many more!

We had a fantastic time in Myrtle Beach and enjoyed every place we dined, so much so that we recommend them and can’t wait to go back ourselves to each and every one some day!
