An Overview of TiVo Roamio Plus & Its Features

TiVo Roamio & service received.

I love tv. Every evening I enjoy settling in on the couch at the end of the day with an exciting lineup of shows and movies. It’s my favorite way to end the day and Dave and I spend the time chatting about what we think will happen next, what happened in the past, and what we are looking forward to.

Ever since TiVo came out I’ve wanted one. I thought it was so futuristic, fun, and a great way to watch tv. Now that we’ve been using our Tivo Roamio Plus for the past few months I am happy to say that it’s exceeded my expectations. It has a number of fantastic features and has made discovering new shows and movies fun. Recording individual episodes or entire seasons is easy and the remote is speedy and simple to use.

Here’s a video overview of the Tivo Roamio Plus:

As you can see there are a number of reasons why TiVo makes watching TV even better. I did notice that I didn’t show how the remote rewinds, fast forwards, skips ahead, and jumps back in the video so I’ll explain it briefly here.

Tivo RemoteTo rewind, press the rewind button up to 3 times for 3 speeds. Press it a 4th time to resume playing. When the DVR is paused this button allows you to go back frame by frame.

The Instant Reply button repeats the last 8 seconds of the program on a recording or live tv. Press and hold it to jump to the beginning of the show.

To fast forward, press the fast forward button up to 3 times for 3 speeds. Press it a 4th time to resume playing and when the DVR is paused you can press it to move ahead frame by frame.

The Advance button moves forward in 30 second increments. Press and hold it to catch up to live tv or advance to the end of the show.

I also love the remote finder feature. You can push a button on the TiVo Roamio Plus and the remote will play a tune until you find it. Very handy and helpful!

I recommend Tivo to anyone looking for a better way to watch tv. If you are a tv fan and like to find the best of the best, the most obscure, or anything in between than TiVo is for you.

Tivo is great in that it makes watching TV easier. I remember when it first hit the market place years and years ago. Going to look into it myself very soon after reading your review.

Interesting. I haven’t thought about Tivo in years.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
