This is the time of year I like to start serving heartier meals. After a long summer of being outside and running around and the prospect of cooler temperatures on the horizon I’ve been looking to add a little something extra to each of our meals. This falls perfectly in line with one of my favorite things to do in the kitchen – putting new twists on classic favorites. That’s why I’m excited be a Kraft Tastemaker, it gives me a chance to try their recipes which results in all kind of new dishes for our dinner table.

With the inspiration of taking a classic and adding a little something extra and as a Kraft Tastemaker where product and compensation was received, I was browsing the Kraft Recipes site looking for dinner ideas. There are so many delicious recipes to choose from! I was in the mood to make a cheeseburger or possibly sandwiches of some kind. I scrolled through all the choices and that’s when their Quick & Easy Sloppy Joes recipe stood out.

At the same time I was interested to learn that A.1. recently made the change from “Steak Sauce” to “Original Sauce.”

A1 Orgianal SauceThey haven’t changed the recipe, just took the word “steak” off the label because their sauce can be used for so much more. With this in mind I thought the Quick & Easy Sloppy Joes would be the perfect reason to give the sauce a try on something different – making it a new twist on an old favorite!

Quick Sloppy JoesI was excited by how true to its name this recipe was. It was both quick and easy. It calls for only six ingredients that are very common in most kitchens, so there’s no need to run out for a special trip to the store.

The combination of the A.1. Original Sauce and the chili powder intrigued me. Once the meat was browned I added the steak sauce, water, and chili powder. After bringing it to a boil and then letting it simmer for a bit, it was ready to eat and I couldn’t wait!

I was thrilled to find this was incredibly flavorful. In fact, it reminded me of a summer backyard barbecue. I enjoyed the boldness of it and since we are all fans of both A.1. Original Sauce and sloppy joes it was an instant hit. We liked how it gave a heartiness and punch of steakhouse flavor to our traditional sloppy joes and is definitely a recipe we’ll be trying again.

Quick & Easy Sloppy JoesGive this recipe a try when you’re in the mood for something just a bit different, heartier, and a bit bolder.

I’m definitely going to try this! I love finding quick and easy meals to make. My family gets sick of the same dinners all of the time.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
