Mixbook Photo Book Review

As an Amazon Associate/Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases.

Mixbook Photobook code received.

This Mixbook Photo Book review shares why this is one of our favorite ways to preserve cherished family memories. I’m addicted to photo books and that’s why I was excited to make a photo book with Mixbook. Many moms scrapbook as a hobby, but I prefer creating photo books.

They are not only keepsakes for our family, but I love giving them as gifts too. I made my first photo books for our niece and nephew’s 1st birthdays. I spent so much time on them: picking out the perfect photos, choosing backgrounds, finding quotes,  and adding many personal touches. I’m not exaggerating when I say it probably took me two days, at about 8 hours each day to create the books.

That was 7 years ago. Thankfully, photo books have evolved considerably since then!

My very favorite photo book site, Mixbook, allows you to create photo books in a snap with a wide selection of theme choices and the option to automix (have the site automatically insert your photos into the book for you at the click of a button) or you can completely customize every aspect of the book from page layout, photo positioning and size, to backgrounds & clip art.

Mixbook Review

In the first method, the longest part of making the book is selecting the pictures. In the second method, it will take as long as you allot time to choose between hundreds of options or utilizing the freehand sizing and positioning tool to make a truly personal photo book.

As I said above, I love giving photo books as gifts and what better holiday to make and give a photo book then Mother’s Day? Mom,if you are still reading this – stop here! :)

Using Mixbook I created a photo book for my mom for Mother’s Day. I thought it would be nice to make a book filled with photos of all her grandchildren. I had so much fun creating this book and customizing it using Mixbook. It really is an amazing site with beautiful designs, plenty of page layouts, cute clip art, and the option to re-size each photo and move it around on the page as you see fit.

I love the book I made and I think it is beautiful, personal, and will make my mom smile. Here’s a peek at it:

There are many covers to choose from and to customize:

This is a pre-made template page. The background and layout were done for me, I just dragged & dropped the pictures.

I used a provided page layout here, but added in the clip art flowers, the word “fun” and selected the drop-shadow for the photos. And while this page shows Grandpa and the kids, there are Grandma pages too – this was simply a design that showed up well online and a perfect example of the cute clip-art etc.

This was again a pre-made template, I just dragged, dropped, & arranged photos.

I completely customized this next page from start to finish. I knew I wanted to use all of these pictures on this page but there was no specific layout that fit what I was looking for. So I selected the background and customized the layout myself. I started with a provided layout, inserted and deleted photos, sized to fit, added the drop-shadow and was done. It took me a bit longer than it sounds, but no more than 10 minutes, and I was pleased that it came out looking as nice as I had envisioned.

What do you think? It looks like a great book, doesn’t it? I hope my mom will love it!

I also have to mention that Mixbook has a couple of other neat features. One, is the option to upload photos from many different places including your computer, Flickr, Facebook, Picasa, Yahoo! Search, Photobucket, and SmugMug and you can create cards and calendars too.

The second option that I think is brilliant, is the ability to build a photo book online with friends. One person starts the book as the creator who controls every aspect of the book and others can upload pictures and help with the design which enables events to be captured from different points of view all in one book!

I highly recommend Mixbook to anyone looking to design a photo book. I enjoyed all of the customization options, the beauty of the designs, and the simplicity of the site so much that Mixbook has made my Top Ten Favorite Products list and recommend it to others looking for the best in photobooks.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
