Family Movies & TV

Mary Poppins 50th Anniversary Edition Review

Growing up one of my fondest memories was watching movies with my family. One of my favorites was Mary Poppins. I love the creativity in it, the imagination, the songs, dances, the silliness, and the message too.

Mary Poppins 50th Anniversary Edition

Mary Poppins 50th Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray received.

From the time Kora & Logan were little my mom started them in on the family movie fun and played Mary Poppins for them often. To this day they enjoy it as much as I do. That’s why I was excited about Mary Poppins 50th Anniversary Edition Blu-Ray.

Can you believe it’s been out for 50 years?! Amazing.

It’s incredible to think of the technology available then and how they were able to produce many of the most imaginative scenes like jumping into the sidewalk painting, dancing with the penguins, floating up to the ceiling, and the classic – the toys putting themselves away.

I also find it fascinating that the story line and songs have withstood the test of time. Every time we watch this movie we all find ourselves singing “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and “Chim Chim Cheree” and “Spoonful of Sugar” the rest of the day.

In this 50th Anniversary Edition we were happy to see the how crisp and clear the picture is thanks to the all-new digital restoration. The extra features and bonuses make this edition truly a keepsake. The “Mary-OKE” is a fun way to sing along to animated words to the film’s popular songs. “Becoming Mr. Sherman” is an interview with half of the famous composing team, the Sherman Brothers, who wrote all of the classic Mary Poppins songs. It’s a great opportunity to hear heartwarming stories and revealing details about the making of Mary Poppins. There’s also a unique sneak peek into the new film, Saving Mr. Banks.

There are also many other extras including:

  • Deleted Song – “Chimpanzoo”
  • A Magical Musical Reunion with Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, and Richard Sherman
  • The Making of Mary Poppins

Mary Poppins 50th Anniversary Edition will be available on December 10th. We recommend it to anyone who loved the classic and to those who’ve never seen it. It’s a fun movie that’s filled with memorable moments which are perfect to share with family and friends.
