School is back is session (or coming really soon if you are one of the lucky ones who start after Labor Day. The summer has been great, a little bit of organized chaos, but overall it has been awesome!

The kids keep eating us out of house and home, it seems like as soon as breakfast is chowed down the kids are both asking for a snack. We did a great job all summer making sure the kids ate lots of fruits and ate healthy (for the most part – pizza counts as healthy . . . right?).

Now it’s time for back to school, time for this kids to come home from school, grab a snack and run out the door to a practice or buddy’s house. This time of year always gets to me, there isn’t as much time to hang out as a family, and there isn’t as much time to put together meals.Kroger Natural and Organic Prices

We are always looking for something quick and healthy – especially snacks b/c the kids seem to eat every hour. We are working with Kroger and had an opportunity over the summer to really experience their Natural Foods Department. I was shocked and impressed with their selection of natural and organic foods – and the variety they had was excellent.Kroger Silk and Horizon

In addition to the great variety, I was shocked how Kroger is able to provide products from WhiteWave brands like Horizon, Silk and Yulu at such a great price. With everything from milk singles from Horizon  and Silk, to yogurts and meals, there is something that will make it possible for even the pickiest kid to eat well.

Kroger Great Prices on Horizon

Snacks for school and after school are where it is very easy to just give your child something sugary and not as healthy as you should. Kroger makes it nice and easy to load the fridge and cabinets with some better options. You can choose from organic Yulu yogurt, delicious flavors of Silk dairy free yogurt, milk singles from Horizon or Silk, crackers and other snacks from Horizon and even varieties of Classic, Organic & Gluten-Free macaroni and cheese. You can also visit Kroger for their excellent selection and variety of fruits and veggies, which make perfect quick snacks for the kids.Kroger Natural Snacks

We are planning on sending the kids with yogurt and a fruit for their school snacks this year and having healthier snacks available in the house that will allow the kids “grab and go” on their way to their activities.

I would also like to share with you a quick meal that we will be taking advantage of many times this school year. Our kids actually like their veggies, but we first started putting veggies in their macaroni & cheese because they wouldn’t notice them as they just shoveled the macaroni & cheese into their mouths. I swear, when Logan was 4 years old we could have put spoiled eggs and bugs in his macaroni & cheese and he would eat it and say how delicious it was.Kroger Natural Foods

So ever since then we have been putting veggies in their macaroni & cheese out of habit, and both kids like it this way, so chalk one up for the parents!

The Horizon Organic Classic Mac with peas and/or corn will be a quick go to dinner for the kids all school year, and I know they will love it and eat it with problems at all.

There are tons of ways to educate your child about how to eat healthier, we do this in 2 ways. First we bring them to Kroger with us to see the selections of natural and organic food, and we let them pick some of their own items. so they see how it works to shop and select natural items. Secondly, we try to have natural snacks around all the time and encourage both kids to eat them and we incorporate them into every meal as well.

What do you do to help your child eat more natural and organic foods?
