Five Ways To Include Your Dog In Your Holiday Festivities

With the holidays around the corner there’s someone in our lives we always like to make sure we include. Yoshi!

She is a big part of our family and is a wonderful dog. This time of year can get a bit hectic with all the shopping, baking, and wrapping to do along with holiday parties and daily tasks. I never want Yoshi to feel left out or overlooked. She is so good about always being there for us that it’s important to carve out some time for her too. Here are my five favorite ways to include your dog in your holiday festivities:

Include Your Dog In Your Holiday Photos Or Card

Yoshi Holiday CardIf you are taking a family photo or sending out holiday cards with pictures be sure to include your dog as well. Last year we were able to snap this cute photo of Yoshi in a Santa hat.

Yoshi Christmas CardShe had been sitting around so nicely while we were taking photos of the kids that we thought she might want to get in on the fun too. We were pleasantly surprised that she was excited to play along and we have an adorable memorable holiday photo of her.

Buy A Special Toy

Yoshi doesn’t get many new toys throughout the year because she always tears them to shreds within minutes. Even the indestructible ones. But she loves them and is so happy every time she gets a new toy. Her tail wags like crazy and she rolls around on her back with her feet in the air playing with it. That’s why at the holidays as a special treat we always try to buy her a couple of toys. Not only does it make her happy and reward her for her good behavior, but it also keeps her busy while we open our presents so she can be right there with us enjoying herself as well.

Look At Holiday Lights Together

One of our favorite family traditions is going out to look at holiday lights. We often drive around to do this and in fact just went out the other night. As we were getting ready to go, we thought, why not include Yoshi too? She loves car rides so it was fun to bring her along with us. It was a new tradition for us to include her and one that we all enjoyed, including Yoshi, so we’ll be sure to do it again from now on. I also thought it would be fun to go on a holiday light walk where we walk around the neighborhood looking at lights and bring Yoshi along too. She’d love the extra exercise and we’d all enjoy spending time together.

Get Pictures Taken With Santa

Many pet stores and shelters often offer the opportunity to have your dog get their photo taken with Santa. If you have young kids you can get them in the photo too and they will they will think it’s fantastic and so much fun to pose with Santa along with their dog. Or just frame an adorable picture of your dog and you’ll have a memorable photo to treasure for years to come.

Reward Your Pup With Tasty Treats

This time of year can be tough on pups with their routines being continually disrupted and with everyone racing around trying to get everything done. That’s why I’m excited about Waggin’ Train. During the holidays it’s good to reward your dogs best behavior with Waggin’ Train treats.
