Counting Down To The Hunger Games Mockingjay – Part 1

As an Amazon Associate/Influencer, I earn from qualifying purchases.

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Lions Gate. I received a book, products, and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

I was an English major in college which basically means I’m a huge book nerd. I love to read and have always thought the most perfect job in the world would be to get paid to read. Wouldn’t that be amazing? Since that job doesn’t technically exist (being a book editor involves a lot more work then just reading – I’ve looked into it) I spend all my spare time reading. I love to discover somewhat obscure books but also can’t wait to get my hands on popular titles too. I also enjoy when books are made into movies. It’s an opportunity to see how others may have perceived the book which gives me a new outlook on it and a new way to enjoy the story.

That’s why I was excited to read Mockingjay, the final book in the Hunger Games trilogy, and to learn that first movie is coming out soon.

Mockingjay Part 1 PosterWhen Hunger Games first came out I had heard such good things I couldn’t wait to read it. As soon as I could I got the book and was immediately engrossed and read the book in a matter of days. I thought it was very thoughtprovoking and different and loved that it featured a strong female lead. I couldn’t wait for the next book to come out. When it did I read it in a few days as well and enjoyed the continuation of the story. I saw the movies as well and thought they did a fantastic job recreating the storyline and putting the audience right there in the action.

I couldn’t wait to see how everything would wrap up in the final book, Mockingjay, and read it just as quickly as the other two.

Mockingjay BookI was excited to watch trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I, the movie looks engrossing and like it will have you on the edge of your seat especially if you read the book. You can take a look at the trailer here:

Doesn’t that look intense? After reading the book, I’m really looking forward to seeing how they show Katniss’s fight to save Peeta and the nation behind her. I’ll be rooting for her as how she fights for the ones she loves and the people around her. I really enjoy how even though this series is targeted at teens it resonates with adult women as well. As I mentioned it’s wonderful to see Katniss fighting for what she believes is right and trying to make a better life for everyone and I believe that’s the goal many of us have in life.

My favorite part of the Hunger Games trilogy and Mockingjay is that Katniss is a strong, female protagonist. I like that even though she is trying to save everyone she keeps the ones she loves close to her heart. It all started when she stood up for her sister in the first book and she continues to stand up for others throughout the rest of the trilogy. She has become a powerful voice for what is right and she is determined to make life better for everyone.

I was excited to receive a few promotional items along with the book.

Mockingjay Book & Gift IdeasThe bandana is very detailed and the pin is just like the one in the movie. Pairing them together with the book would make a wonderful gift set for any Hunger Games fan this holiday season. Mockingjay – Part I comes out on November 21, 2014. I’m counting down the days to see it!

Can’t wait to watch The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
