How To Stream Your Favorite Shows At Home & On The Go

Thank you to IO Gear for providing the products. The honest opinions are my own.

We are a family who likes to be on the go. We enjoy packing up the car and heading out on roadtrips to visit relatives or on family vacations. At the same time, we all have our favorite shows and movies that we like to watch. I did a lot of searching looking for easy ways to beam from our computers at home to our tv and how to stream on the go as well. I learned a lot about beaming and streaming in my search and was excited to be given the chance to review two products from IO Gear that make it all pretty simple.

First up is the MediaShair Hub. This Hub allows you to share, connect, and charge while you are traveling. It is a wireless media hub with a built in power station. With the MediaShair Hub you can share your favorite music, movies, photos, and documents and listen, watch, view, or access them on almost any wireless device.

IO Gear MediaShairTo set it up and use it, plug in your SD card, USB flash drive, or portable USB hard drive and the MediaShair Hub will use the built-in Wifi connection to share the content with up to 7 Android, iOS, or laptop devices that are within range. Be sure to download the MediaShair App in Apple or Google Play Store on those devices to view the content.

IO Gear MediaShair HubI was impressed to learn that the Hub has a built-in battery that lasts for up to 9 hours. I also like that if your phone, tablet, or laptop are running low simply plug in your charging cable into the USB port and the Hub becomes a portable charger.

There are a number of great ways the MediaShair Hub makes entertainment on the go enjoyable:

  • Plug an external hard drive into it and access hundreds of movies on your iPad
  • Kids can each enjoy their favorite music or movies on their own devices on road trips
  • Share photos while on your trip by putting your camera’s SD card into the slot in the Hub and view or share your photos on any device within range

IO Gear MediaShair Hub ReviewThis is a great device for those on the go. I’m excited about all it can do. It will make future family road trips much more enjoyable.

Next up is the Wireless Mobile and PC To HDTV WiDi and Miracast Adapter. While that is a mouthful, it tells you exactly what this device does – it beams your PC to your TV.

IO Gear StreamingMissed an episode of your favorite show and it’s not on Netflix or other streaming channel? Once you have this device set up, go to the network website, find the full episode of the show, play it on your PC and watch it on your HDTV. This saves you from having to huddle in front of your tiny notebook screen or having to sit at your office desk to catch up on that episode. You can enjoy it from the comfort of your couch on your large screen TV.

IO Gear Widi StreamNot only does it work with your PC, but this device can mirror and wirelessly stream from your smartphone, tablet, or Intel i3, i5, or i7 laptop to your big screen HDTV. It’s also a great way to stream presentations for work or school.

These IO Gear devices make watching your favorite shows & movies, listening to music, playing video games, sharing photos, and more convenient to take with you on roadtrips or to enjoy on a big screen at home. They both offer a number of great features and I recommend them to anyone looking for ways to stream at home or on the go.

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
