Cleveland Botanical Garden Glow Review

It’s the holiday season and I love doing things around town that put our family in the festive spirit.

Tickets received.

One of our favorite places to visit in the Cleveland area is the Cleveland Botanical Garden. That’s why I was excited about Glow, their annual event that turns the garden into a winter wonderland.Walking into the lobby we were greeted by a gorgeous 24-foot fir tree decorated by floral designer Don Vanderbrook. It is beautiful and the perfect spot to snap a family photo or two.

In the lobby we were amazed at the three winning gingerbread houses also on display in the lobby. I can’t even imagine the amount of work that went into them.

More than 150 gingerbread houses are on display and we found them all so creative and imaginative. We enjoyed strolling through the building and looking them all over as well as the forty evergreens decorated by local garden clubs.

We were excited to wander through the Glasshouse as well to see the lizards and turtles of the dessert as well as the gorgeous butterflies in the rainforest.

I loved all of the festive signs throughout the Glasshouse that shared info about how the holidays are celebrated around the world. It was insightful and a wonderful touch that we all enjoyed.

There are also a number of other fun features of Glow including:

  • 3000+ holiday plantings from poinsettias to winterberry
  • Mrs. Claus’s Sweet Shop
  • Live holiday music
  • Garden Express magical train ride
  • Gingerbread house decorating
  • Wishing Tree

We had a wonderful time at Glow at the Cleveland Botanical Garden again this year and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, festive event in the Cleveland area. Tickets are $12 for non-member adults and $8 for non-member children and is free for Garden members. It only runs until January 5th, 2014 and we had such a wonderful time that we are already looking forward to attending again next year.

That is beautiful. I am an Ohio native and have been to Cleveland more times than I can count, why I haven’t went there is beyond me. I need to go when I get back home.

Denver Botanical Gardens has Blossoms of Light every winter and it’s lovely. Their conservatory is always a great place to get into the tropics and out of the snow.

We went there this year, too! It was such a great time! I don’t think I really felt “Christmassy” until we hit that tree in the front! Great review!

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
