4 Ways to Save Money Using Your SmartPhone

Smartphones are great for many obvious reasons, but they can also be a very valuable tool for the savvy shopper. Using your smartphone to save money is something that we have been doing for some time and is really gaining in popularity.

Save money while using your smartphone.

Save Money On Your Smartphone Shopping

There are many ways you can save money using your smartphone (and earn its keep). Here are my top 4 ways.

  1. Price Match

When shopping for an item, the goal is always to get the best price. Thanks to your smartphone, you have access to the entire internet and apps to check out the price of your target item. If you are at Store A and Store B shows it online for a lower price, simply ask Store A to price match. As long as the product is identical odds are they will match it, many store’s price match guarantee also includes online stores as well, like Amazon.

  2. Coupons

    Save with the Cartwheel App

Many retailers offer an app and include coupons in that app. You can use your smartphone in the store, scroll thru the options and simply click the coupons you would like to take advantage of. Some stores require you to show the coupon or code on your phone at check out, but there are many stores like Target and Meijer who have apps (Cartwheel for Target and the Meijer app) with customer accounts, you can scroll thru savings options and/or coupons and simply show your phone at checkout or provide your member ID to save on all your selected items. This is an awesome way to save money using your smartphone.

  3. Text Alerts

Text Alert Savings From Home Depot

Everyone has retailers and restaurants that they go to more often than others. A great savings tip is to make sure you get signed up and added to a store’s text alert list. Often there will be messages sent saying save $ on this item today, or save a certain percentage off your total on lunch this weekend, or even free movie rentals. These are great, I feel like they provide surprise savings!

  4. Scanning AppsSave Money On Your Smartphone Shopping

There are more than a few apps out there that allow you to scan UPC codes and find out more about the product. In addition to using this for price comparison, you can look up reviews on your product while in the store and even look at comparable models. Some apps that work great for this are Red Laser & Amazon.

Here are some additional ways to use that iPhone or Android to save money while you are shopping!

Hey there! I’m Tesa, the mom behind 2 Wired 2 Tired. The blog got its name because we have two kids born a year apart and my husband, Dave, and I always joked that "the kids were too wired and we were too tired!" :)

Fast forward a bit—now the kids are off to college (how did that happened so fast!) and since 2009, I’ve been blogging through the chaos, coffee in hand, finding the best in family, travel, and tech—because honestly, who has time for bad gadgets and boring trips?

So, whether you're searching for family travel inspiration, tech gadgets, or tips to enhance family life, you're in the right place because the fun (and the coffee) is always brewing around here!
